Chapter 13 - A little bit of greed is okay right?

As the crimson dawn broke over the horizon, casting its fiery hues upon the cityscape, I stood amidst the aftermath of my vengeance. The screams of the corrupt politicians echoed no more, replaced by an eerie silence that seemed to linger in the air like a haunting melody. With a smirk curling upon my lips, I turned my attention to the next phase of my plan.

The vault of the politicians, a fortress of greed and deceit, beckoned to me like a siren's call. With swift and silent steps, I made my way through the labyrinthine corridors, guided by the shadows that danced upon the walls. It was a dance of darkness and light, of secrets buried deep within the bowels of the earth.

As I approached the vault, guarded by intricate locks and traps, I felt a surge of adrenaline course through my veins. This was it – the culmination of my quest for retribution, the final act of defiance against the forces of corruption that had plagued this city for far too long.

With practiced hands, I bypassed the security measures with ease, my fingers deftly manipulating the mechanisms with a precision born of years of training. And then, with a satisfying click, the vault swung open, revealing its treasures to me like a lover baring their soul.

Gold and jewels glittered in the dim light, a testament to the greed and avarice of those who had hoarded them away. But amidst the wealth, I saw something else – the hopes and dreams of a people forgotten, the cries of the oppressed silenced by the weight of their poverty.

Without hesitation, I began to gather the riches, filling my pockets and bags with the spoils of my conquest. But even as I did so, a voice whispered in the depths of my mind, a voice that spoke of righteousness and justice.

With a sigh, I paused in my plundering, my gaze drifting to the shadowy corners of the vault. There, amidst the darkness, I saw the faces of the people – the ones who had suffered at the hands of the corrupt, the ones who had placed their trust in me to deliver them from tyranny.

And in that moment, I knew what I had to do.

With a determined resolve, I divided the wealth into two piles – one for the people, to be distributed amongst the villagers who had been robbed of their livelihoods, and one for myself, to fuel my continued quest for justice.

Seventy percent of the spoils went to the people, a small token of recompense for their suffering. The rest I kept for my own purposes, a necessary evil in the war against corruption.

And then, with a final glance at the vault, I turned and made my way out of the city, my footsteps echoing in the empty streets. As I disappeared into the shadows, I couldn't help but feel a sense of satisfaction wash over me.

For though my path was fraught with danger and uncertainty, I knew that I was not alone. With every step, I could feel the whispers of the shadows guiding me, urging me onward in my quest for justice.

And as I vanished into the darkness, I knew that my legend would live on – a shadowy figure in the night, a symbol of hope for those who had none.
