Chapter 6 - My first duel in 5000 years.

Chapter 1 Awakening.

P6: My first duel in 5000 years.

There I was facing off against someone after 5000 years. Let's see if I have gotten rusty.

Inside was an instructor overseeing the match and that safety was upheld.

The instructor made sure we were both ready.

"Begin!" The instructor stepped aside.

"I'll end this with one shot!" My opponent screamed.

He formed a magic circle.

To understand what a magic circle is we need to understand what magic itself is.

Magic transcends laws allowing people who can use magic to perform things such as creating flames out of nothing.

A magic circle is the visible representation of magic but at the core of a magic circle is a magic blueprint which is the source of information needed to create a magic circle.

Individuals who can control mana, an energy source which surrounds but cannot be seen can use it to power magic circles and spells.

"Take this!" My opponent cast the spell isahel which is the fire spell.

A stream of flames emerged from his magic circle and headed straight for me.

I snapped my finger which created a blast of wind blowing out the flames.

"What the!?" My opponent said in disbelief.

"You have to do better than that," I told him.

He was furious, he ground his teeth in frustration.

"How dare you mock me…Do you know who I am?!" He asked in anger.

"Should I?" I asked.

"I am from the family Tipas, a sub-family brand of the Tepes family. A mere commoner like you has no right to look down upon me!" He said raging endlessly.

In the last 5000 years, one thing certainly has changed and that's the respect shown to others, these days respect is rare to see.

It seemed that the noble families had become toxic to commoners treating them like second-class.

"I do not care what family you are from," I told him.

I stretched out my arm with my palm open and a magic circle appeared.

I cast the spell Aeas the lighting spell.

Bolts of lightning from my magic circle headed at my opponent.

An explosion was caused by the impact which lifted dust into the air covering my opponent.

The dust began to settle…"You are still standing," I said with a smirk.

*Pant*

*Pant*

*Pant*

My opponent was barely able to stand upright.

On his finger, I noticed a ring glowing.

"Thanks to this artefact I was able to create a barrier," He said out of breath.

I analysed the ring with my magic eyes.

It seems that this ring was able to amplify the wearer's defence capabilities by pouring mana into it.

I held back significantly with my attack and my opponent was on the brink of collapse in terms of magic combat. The people now have become weaker than in the days of war.

"Now prepare to meet your end!" My opponent shouted.

He pulled out an object, it was a purple sphere which emitted sinister energy I had not felt in a long time.

"HAHAHA! PREPARE TO DIE!" He said with his eyes shot wide open turning it was clear that he lost his mind.

The instructor stepped in. "PUT THAT DOWN! CURSED ITEMS ARE FORBIDDEN!" He said.

They called cursed items. I remembered it being called demonic energy.

"I DON'T CARE! PLEASE GRANT ME THE POWER TO DESTROY HIM!" He begged for the item.

A purple smoke enveloped him and began to enter his body through his eyes, mouth and nose until the smoke was gone.

"TIME TO STOP!" The instructor cast eft restraining magic, sealing symbols created by the spell headed for Tipas restraining his movements.

"haHA" A deep voice originated from Tipas.

"TSKKK!" The instructor gave all his strength to ensure Tipas was restrained.

"Do you think this can hold me?" He said in an even deeper voice.

A purple aura was emitted by Tipas which caused the symbols to break.

"NOO!" The instructor tried once more.

"Weak," Tipas raised his hand shooting demon energy at the instructor causing him to lose consciousness.

"You are a fool by letting a demon possess you," I told him.

Demon possession was rare but as the time implied it was a contract between a demon and mortal, the demon in return for your body and soul would grant immense power.

But she forbade demons to possess beings…

"I have a score to settle with you," He said, shooting demonic energy at me.

Demonic energy is not magic but a different source of energy infused with curses and the mere exposure to demonic energy is lethal.

Tipas's body began to take damage slowly if he was Human he would be dead by now with this soul gone but because Vampires regenerate quicker than any other being this process is delayed causing more and more pain.

"Don't worry I will free you," I told tipas who was screaming in agony.

I cast the spell Minsk purification magic which was specifically created to deal with demonic encounters.

A beam of white light covered Tipas.

"No NOOOOOO!" He screamed no actually it was the demon who possessed him rather.

"Go back where you came from," I told the demon.

"Tell your master I will be visiting her soon," I said and with that, the demon was separated from Tipas soul and body and sent back to the underworld.

Other instructors rushed in to see what had happened.

The instructor who tried to stop Tipas was sealed and Tipas was lying on the floor unconscious but alive.

In the end, it was decided that I won the duel and was allowed to proceed further.

I wondered how Leyla was doing, hopefully, she wouldn't need to deal with something as irritating as this.

Leyla was already done with her match and was waiting for me outside my match.

She rushed to me with concern.

"Are you alright?" She asked.

"Don't worry I'm fine," I told her, padding her head.

She began to blush.

"Could you please stop? I'm not a cat" She said in a quiet tone.

I began to chuckle. "Alright, I'm sorry thanks for your concern," I lifted my hand off her head.

"How was your match?" I asked her.

"It went well, at first I was nervous about fighting someone but I took a deep breath and focused on my opponent rather than the spectators," She said with joy.

Talking about spectators it seemed I got quite the attention from them.

They began to whisper about me, it must have been the first time for them to see demonic possession.

At the very last row Vallerie Tepes smirked "You finally returned," She said with a chuckle.

Me and Leyla were asked to proceed out of the Colosseum and back to the main building.

Inside the main building was a large hall with the other applicants who had won their duel waiting for the next instructions.

Until then we had time to spare.

I talked to Leyla for the entire time and before we realised the final people had arrived we were ready for the next test.

"Alright listen!" An instructor shouted.

All the applicants went silent and waited for the announcement.

"You all have proven that you can hold your own when it comes to using magic in combat scenarios! Now you need to prove that your mind is strong. The next test will test whether or not you have a strong mind!"

Sounds interesting…
