Two shadowy figures are seen on a dias, seated across from each other. Besides vague details that shift like the movement of the darkness or light they are indistinguishable. Behind the dias rows of creatures line the wall, all different but wearing the same style of armour. The armour looks like that of knights from a long lost era. From a time when gods roamed the world with their holy knights to protect them. Between the two shadows floats a projection of Earth. The shadow on the left stirs slightly and states "it's a bland heartless world they've built for themselves"
"I suppose, but it does have it's own beauty."
"Beauty in what?" the first shadow scoffs. "Suffering and Pain?"
The other shadow falls silent for a few moments contemplating what was said. They gaze at Earth, watching as the humans rise from the primitive ages to the space age. The one constant they see is the death and suffering, not just the humans have, but the very Earth has as well. "Beauty in their tenacity." The second shadow says after a time. "The planet, the Humans, and the very animals all thrive off the others suffering. They all cause death, suffering, and pain. Yet they persist. They don't die off like many races do, they thrive if anything."
"A planet thriving off pain?" The first shadow once again scoffs.Â
"Yes, that very well explains why the Hero originates from here."
"I still don't believe that they're here."
"Oh they're here, and we must hurry to find them, before she does." At the mention of this woman a great wailing is heard and a third shadow materializes. This one with very feminine looks and characteristics. She is made of shadow like the others and yet all her details are visible. The long flowing hair, horns curving forward the opposite of a Ram. Her clothes a tattered mess yet imbued with a strange magic. But most important are the chains wrapped around her entire body. "what's this dears, having a chat with out me? really you're hurting my feelings" she says pretending to wilt and pout in front of them. They both stand up, the anger evident in their stance, and yet just a smidgen of fear. "so you've already started to escape now that the hero is close to being found" the one on the left says. "Why of course dearest, I couldn't possibly give up the chance of slaughtering another hero now could I? I wonder how long this one will scream, how long they'll last till I break them?" As the thoughts go across her mind, her face fills with expressions of pleasure until she's panting at the thought. "Sick dog" the one on the right mutters.
"Enough of this, why have you really come here Eira? To gloat? To sow discord?" The one on the left asks anger masking their voice. "Of course not my sweet" she says smiling at them like a mother smiles at a toddler. "I came to tell you a story, and I'm sure you won't mind, since you can't be rid of me and I'll be here till my limit is up. So just sit and listen." They both ball their fists in indignation before sitting in the two thrones. She remains standing and then in a lilting mocking voice begins. At this moment her voice erases everything, removing everything to darkness. No sound, no sight. Just pure empty void. "Another rodent come to join in my conquest?" Eira's voice lilts out gently, like a condescending mother once again. "You think you can view my story like some omniscient god?" Anger begins to build in her voice. "I have worked for a supereon to make everything turn out right. And I will not be ruined by the likes of a SILENT OMNISCIENT GOD." Her voice roars to a scream punctuated by a chorus of damned screaming. Then a pop, and finally... silence. You open your eyes and you're in a messy bedroom with small computer in the corner with a young man sitting in front of it. He senses you and spins around releasing a sigh of relief. "Hello Reader, I'm the author, you're lucky I still have some control of this story or else you would be dead, even behind the immortality of a screen. You see unfortunately Eira has taken over my story. How? I don't know, but you must be careful reader. I can only save you so many times before she finds me. And if she finds me, then the hero will die. I have hidden the hero very carefully, and I think the best option to save you is for you to accompany the hero on her journey. But don't worry, you'll have one advantage. You can let your guard down near any paladin. I wrote their morals and standards so high that when Eira revolted against me all of her paladins deserted her as well. So do not be afraid. I'm sure you have questions, but unfortunately I don't have answers either. And you cannot stay here. This is my realm dear reader. I will stay by your side though, every step of the journey. And remember reader, I am the one true god of this story, and I will not let Eira take this from me. Farewell reader, be safe and try not to die to Eira."Â
A portal opens beneath you and you fall in sinking into the cosmos as the story truly begins.
