I was beyond shocked. I was flabbergasted.

Granted, I knew he'd one day find out and that I wouldn't ever be able to keep that detail from forever, I hadn't expected that it would be revealed today of all days.

I sat frozen, completely at a loss of what to say. It didn't take me long to glance away from Jason's intense gaze. My throat suddenly felt dry and I drank some water, but then I began to cough and Kenny helped me through it by gently patting my back.

"You okay, darling?" Grandma Nini called out and I nodded, knowing nothing would come out if I had attempted to speak. I could still feel Jason's eyes on me and I made it my mission to avoid it throughout the rest of this dinner.

I exhaled slowly, feeling my hand shake a little around my fork. Kenny's hand settled on my lap, squeezing a little as if giving me strength silently and I exhaled again.
