1: The Set Up
Rory's pov
"Do you really need to get him a gift? You're literally getting married to him in two days!" My best friend since forever mumbled with an eye roll and I nibbled on my bottom lip as I dwelled on her opinion.
My best friend since forever, Tracy, always has the best judgment when it comes to most situations, which is why I'm currently wondering if she has a point.
I'm gonna be getting married to the prince of our pack soon, and that was a very big deal, not just because he was a prince, but because I'm an omega.
As an omega, being unwanted was already a second nature to me, so till this very moment, it still unnerved me that me of all people would be getting married to the prince of our prestigious pack.
I got betrothed to him because my father took a dept from the pack alpha and was unable to pay back as promised. And back then when I had still been a baby, my father had actually offered me up as a sex slave to the pack alpha
The pack alpha had been kind enough to reject the offer, choosing to give me to Alex, his young son instead.
As his son grew up, I expected him to refuse to get married to me since I was an omega. He could easily have the betrothal called off, it wouldn't even be any hassle for him to do, but to my utmost surprise, that never happened.
Instead, it was the complete opposite that happened.
Since the first time I finally met with the crown prince, it was a love at first sight, and imagine my delight on discovering he felt the same thing I felt. It made me immensely happy, and a wedding which I dreaded my entire life, instantly turned into something I began to immensely look forward to.
As the crown prince and I spent time with each other, we fell more in love with each other and every day, I always made sure to thank the moon goddess for blessing me with something like this in a world where we omegas were destined to have nothing.
And that's exactly why I really want to get my husband-to-be a present.
"I don't need to, but I want to, I really want to. You know he'd be the one to take care of me for the rest of our lives as soon as we get married, so I want to do this one thing for him." As I spoke, an image of his face appeared in my mind and I found myself sighing in immense contentment.
Tracy sat up in my small bed, pushing her hair out of her face before speaking. "Hm. I guess you can get him a gift then, because I do get what you mean. So, what are you gonna get him?"
I shrugged my shoulders. "I actually haven't tonight that far yet. I don't have enough money for anything extravagant and that's exactly what I want to get for him, because it's what he deserves for being so amazing.
"How are you gonna afford the gift then?" Tracy asked, before explaining how she'd have lent me money if she had, and I know she meant those words because she has always looked out for me since I could remember.
"What if you ask Alex for some money? You know he'd give you in an instant." She suggested and I hastily shook my head before flopping into the bed.
"I don't wanna, because you know it makes me feel weird to ask for anything." I reminded her, because it's the only reason why I'm still living in this shabby house. Alex had offered to move me and my sister into somewhere better but I always refused his offer.
"And besides, it's weird to ask him for money for a gift I'd be getting for him." I mumbled and she hummed before flopping into the spot beside me.
We remained silent for a little while before she abruptly sat up, eyes gleaming mischievously and a broad smile dancing over her lips, a look she usually wears when wanting to say something completely outrageous.
"I know the perfect quick job you can do to fetch you some quick money!"
~~~
"Are you sure about this, Tracy?" I screamed into her ear through the loud music here in the club.
Tracy had revealed she has a friend who could quickly hook me up and help me earn some fast cash. I had made sure to confirm that it wasn't anything illegal and she had thoroughly assured me it wasn't. She also promised to be by my side throughout while also working for her own money along with me.
She brought us drinks and we began to drink, while I let my eyes wander around. I've only been to this club once, during Tracy's last birthday, and I had refused to return here after that night, because everyone here had been so disgusting and hadn't even bothered to hide it. They had all tried hitting on me at once, lewdly making remarks about my omegan features and how they wanna fuck me in a thousand positions.
Shortly after that disastrous night, Alex was angered on hearing about that, and he then began to publicly stake his claim on me, and in no time, everyone in the pack knew me as 'Alex's Omega'.
Which is definitely why everyone was completely staying away from me after a few curious glances and mumbles of 'prince Alex's omega.'
My wolf preened at being publicly recognized as that.
After some time, I could barely focus on anything, and my eyesight grew blurry and unfocused. When I turned to Tracy, I gripped her hand and was about to ask her why the club was suddenly spinning around, but she tipped a glassful of drink down my throat and I forced myself to swallow because I wanted to breathe more freely.
My eyesight grew even more blurry.
"T- Tracy." I slurred, grasping her hand and whining when I almost fell down, but she held me firmly, giggling against my head as she began to lead me somewhere.
I held onto her tightly, legs wobbly and eyes unfocused.
When I managed to ask her where we were going, she informed me we were going to meet my alpha.
"A- Alex?" I slurred and she hummed while nodding against my head. I tried to clear my eyesight but it only blurred even more.
"W- wanna meet Alex." I slurred around a hiccup and she giggled before reassuring me that she was taking me to him. I couldn't for the life of me, make my mind focus on anything else except Alex.
In no time, I was being led into a darkened room. My heartbeat quickened and I refused to let go of Tracy.
"Honey, you need to let go of me so I'd go fetch your alpha, hm?" She spoke, stroking my hair and I hesitated before finally loosening my hold.
"Don't be long, okay?" I mumbled as the ground swayed underneath my feet.
"I won't, I promise." Came her response before she disappeared.
