Chereads / The Artificer's Road To Godhood / Chapter 5 - Interlude: Lurker

Chapter 5 - Interlude: Lurker

Inside a dark room, A man was seated in a table chair.

In front of him were numerous displays that looked similar to the Hero Support System's display. However, the ones he had been encased in metallic bezels.

Simply put, they looked like monitors of computers. However, if an earthling were to describe them based on their design, they looked like a combination of fantasy and sci-fi.

After all, it seems like what's powering them is the moderately-sized magic crystal on the side of the table.

When the man looked at one of the displays, his face showed an expression of interest and disbelief.

At the same time, a blue sphere of light appeared near the man's shoulder. It released two rings that seemed to orbit it before a beautiful feminine voice resounded.

[Your Highness, it appears that there is a major problem.]

"I wouldn't call it major but... it's definitely something we have to keep an eye on."

The blue sphere of light had a slightly monotone voice, however, compared to Stella, it seemed to contain more emotion.

The display that the man was looking at was located at the top left. It showed the exact display of the 5,141,920th evaluation of heroes. It also showed the two heroes who were about to start the first battle and were getting introduced.

"Artificer class."

[Yes, however, someone hacked into the system's outer frame and altered the class as they pleased, no, they simply plastered a different data on top of it. Of course, because we have access to the core, we can see the exact information regarding that hero.]

"Yeah. That can only be the doing of another AI from the Mechanical God Series."

[The archives that contained information regarding my sisters have been lost so I am not able to discern who they are. More than that, Your Highness, you wouldn't want me to relay this information to those people, correct?]

"Obviously, not only would there be chaos, but that child would also be in danger. I swear on my name, that I will personally oversee him. Eve, make sure to carefully assess his data before they are uploaded to the system's public space. Only allow the insignificant ones to go through."

The floating blue sphere who was called Eve, deactivated the rings before replying.

[Understood, but what about the AI that was trying to bypass the system's main frame?]

"They can't know about our identity yet, and it seems like they don't people to know about them either. Can you stop her?"

[Yes, however, she is very persistent, at this rate I wouldn't be able to do other tasks.]

"I see, then continue, I will create a temporary clone of you later so it can manage that task."

[Understood, then, by your will.]

With that, the blue sphere of light dissipated almost immediately. Meanwhile, the man relaxed in his seat and crossed his legs before muttering.

"Artificer, huh? Kuku, I guess fate does have the ability to create convenient connections. No, I'm sure she's also the one who made this possible."

As he said that, the man looked above his ceiling as if he could peer at the other side of it.

"Will he be the one to save you? Or another one who will abandon you like me? Well, I do not plan on making an enemy out of him but... I should at least put him to the test. Right, sister?"

Although he talked as if there was someone who could hear him, there was none. Still, that shouldn't matter, as the man holds secrets that not many are possibly worthy of knowing.
