Chapter 4 - chapter 4

belle sat next to Gregor quietly while he chatted away with principle Modi, who was on the other end of the desk rummaging through a cabinet before pulling out a slim white file with Belle's name and picture on it.

"Am I getting expelled." Belle asked worriedly as principal Modi opened up the file. "What happened back in class was self defense. It was already reported to the school that August was Bullying me, you cant just..."

The words just Kept spilling out of Belle as her breathing shallowed and tears streamed down her face. The thought that everything her parents had done for her up until now would just go up in flames because of her own actions destroyed her.

what would she say, how would they react. all these thoughts rushed through her brain as her mouth continued to spout out excuses.

"No ones getting expelled." Gregor said to Belle with a hand on her shoulder. "Modi is just going to update your file to include your fire magic."

Principal Modi opened up the file and crossed out the nulls that were initially under attribute and nature before looking up at Belle. "What exactly is the nature of your magic?" He asked Belle who, having never really bothered with magical theory, responded with a confused face prompting Modi to explain.

"The nature pretty much means the method in which you use magic." He started explaining. "Soul users use magic by manifesting fragments of their souls in reality in the form of their magic and command users use their mana to control and create elements of the world."

"Oh, in that case I would say am a command user." Belle answered after thinking for a second. Truthfully neither of the two natures really sounded like how belle used magic but she just wanted this whole ordeal to be done.

Later that night Belle was toying away at her desk, flipping through any history books she could find looking for a history of calamities to no avail. All the books she read seemed to unilaterally believe that Arthis just existed peacefully with no history going back farther than two millennia.

A knock on her door pulled her out of her trance. From the other end of the door she heard her mother call for her to come downstairs. following her mom Elise Belle trotted down the stairs expecting dinner to be the reason she was called down, but what she found was Lucas Lloyd and Elise standing with a huge cake.

"What's the occasion." Belle asked wondering whether she forgot someone's birthday again when Lucas zipped behind her so fast that she couldn't follow his movements.

"Congratulations!" They all shouted in unison as Lucas led Belle to the dinning room table.

"We heard from your principal that you finally awakened you element." Elise said excitedly as she set the cake down in front of Belle.

The cake was a dark shade of lavender same as her hair with four candles burning a beautiful blue and in the center the words congratulations were spelt out in white.

"Thank you." Belle said before blowing out the candles and cutting the cake. The rest of the night was spent with Belle just enjoying herself, the thought of calamities or what was to come fading to an after thought.

Early the next morning belle left home with Lucas heading for the free nights branch. They were headed there because the night prior Lucas had offered to help Belle practice using her magic in preparation for the military training she was to undergo in one months time.

The free nights building was a large castle like structure with two guards armed wit swords guarding its doors.

Seeing Lucas the guards bowed their heads showing respect before returning to position and inquiring about Belle.

"Might I ask who this is sir?" One guard asked Lucas while eying Belle who flowed closely behind him.

"This is my sister, Belle, She'll be accompanying me for the day, Is that alright" Lucas answered before walking away not caring to receive an answer. "come on Belle we're going to be busy.

"Oh okay." Belle answered sheepishly as the guards eyed her even as she entered the building.

The interior was mostly plane unlike its noble exterior. It was a large open space with various little desks spread out and a large notice board in the center. People would pick up missions from the notice board before having them approved and stamped at the various desks scattered around.

Lucas himself skipped the stamping stage when picking up a request and beckoned for Belle to follow him to through a large heavily fortified door leading into the armory.

Inside there was no semblance of organization. All the weapon's were placed haphazardly on the ground with very few being hung up on the walls. Belle Bent down t pick up a sword she thought was in pretty good condition when Luas called for her again.

He was standing by a handless iron door at the end of the armory. Belle watched Lucas poured some of his lights blue mana into the door causing hundreds of rune carvings hidden in the door to illuminate as the door slid open.

"Come on." he beckoned Belle again. "Put that trash down and come pick a real weapon."

The inner armory was nothing like the one Belle had just been in. All the neatly arranged weapons shone with a mysterious light.

"Can I really pick one." Belle asked not believing that one of these amazing works would go home with her.

"pick two if you want."

With the green light from her brother Belle began to look around for what weapon she would be using. She was searching when a white and black sickle caught her attention.

though the light it emitted was only half as bright as all the other weapons its design was immaculate almost as if it was more a work of art than a weapon. Next to the sickle a small chest lie open with an obsidian black chain loosely wrapped around.

Several minutes later Belle having made her choice returned to the Armory entrance where Lucas was still waiting.

"Done?" Lucas asked as Belle walked up to him holding what appeared to be a long black chain connected to a white and black sickle.

"Yeah all done."

"Great then we can leave."

Lucas allowed Belle to leave first before walking out himself and just as he did the inner armory door shut closed with a loud bang rattling all the weapons around.
