A brown-haired, brown-eyed youth was being smacked around a clearing by a purple, bipedal, overgrown, winged lizard.
Huge streams and balls of flames chased the brown-haired youth around and he tried his best to avoid them and at the same time, tried to inflict some damage back to the dragon many times his size.
Keyword: tried.
Now you might ask why a dragon was smacking the hell outta a defenseless boy, it's simple actually. It for a single reason; training.
The black-haired 'pervert-in-arms' ORC consultant deemed his stamina and durability levels mediocre so here he was getting whipped into shape by Tannin. He took solace in the fact that he wasn't the only one going through a rigorous training and hoped his fellow peerage members were having it as hard as he was.
"Focus, Sekiryyutei!"
His moment of distraction cost him a few inches of his hair. The smell of burnt hair sparked a hunger for grilled meat in Issei.
After getting smacked around and getting smacked some more, Tannin decided to call it a day and here they were, man- Err- reincarnated devil with a dragon- err- reincarnated devil dragon? Beside a bonfire to recuperate and keep warm.
"You'll have to achieve balance breaker if you want to win the rating game," Tannin stated, his voice thick and booming.
"Yeah, I know. I achieved balance breaker once."
"Really?"
"More like I was beaten close to death by my sensei in the human world."
"Can you?"
"Do what?"
"Activate balance breaker?"
"No, I haven't felt that feeling of despair he put in me that made me activate it from anyone else."
"What if i-"
"Don't even say it or think about it!"
Issei wasn't looking forward to reliving that feeling, not anytime soon. As he idly poked the flames with a twig, the ground he sat on split open and he jumped away from the spot landing in a defensive stance.
"Impressive. Though I wouldn't have expected any less from the Red Dragon Emperor."
"Who are you?"
"Call me Sairaorg. I'm just trying to weed out the competition"
"Uh, OK."
"Well then, HyoudouHyodou, train well and let'slets have a memorable battle later."
"What a weird guy" Issei commented looking at the stranger in the sky.
(The next day: Uzumaki Mansion)
"Naruto-san! Naruto-san!"
Naruto's eyes snapped open and he had to suppress his ninja reflexes or he would have pinned Martha to the bed and her blood would have stained his bedsheet, courtesy of the Kunais hidden in the seals on his wrists.
"Marie?"
"He's regained consciousness!" Martha yelled.
"Who?"
.
.
.
The Uzumaki Mansion living room was full and at the same time silent for once. Martha and Kuroka sat on the side couch while Naruto, Gaia, John and the little boy Naruto rescued were on the long couch.
The boy was between Naruto and Gaia while John was beside the goddess. He kept staring at the ground before Gaia took the initiative and started a conversation.
"How are you feeling?"
The boy didn't react at all. Just kept on staring at Naruto's floor.
"He's been unresponsive," Martha told the blonde with a look of pity.
"Well, being possessed by an old-urk" Gaia elbowed Naruto in the stomach. Naruto pushed the offending hand aside and glared at Gaia.
The boy was suffering an inner turmoil. He knew something possessed him and it was a miracle Naruto found him on time.
"We've tried everything to get his attention but he's not responding,." Kuroka spoke up.
Naruto tilted his head and placed an open palm in front of the boy at his eye level. The adults in the room all raised an eyebrow at this before their confusion turned to fascination when the sound of a Rasengan being created filled the room. A perfect Rasengan, glowing and swirling in all its chaotic glory caught the boy's attention and he was mesmerized by it.
"Wow!" He exclaimed, his eyes lighting up like a Christmas tree.
Naruto let a smirk grace his face before he balled his fist, ending the Jutsu.
"What was that?" John asked the question that was on everyone's mind with awe on his face. Very few got to see the Rasengan up close outside of battle situations, after all.
The boy pouted and his countenance fell.
"Rasengan," Naruto said again, recreating his father's technique and the boy was captivated again. Naruto balled his fist shut, canceling the Jutsu. The boy pouted and stared at Naruto who inclined his head towards his fist, giving him a nod.
"Rashengan?" The boy called the jutsu's name, staring at Naruto when nothing happened.
"Ra-sen-gan," Naruto pronounced.
"Ra-senn-gan?" The boy repeated with improvement this time. And his effort was rewarded when a wind style Rasengan burst into life instantly in Naruto's hand. The boy jumped and clapped and made to touch it before Naruto stretched his arm to lengths the little boy couldn't reach.
Naruto snorted at the crestfallen expression the boy displayed.
"Me, Naruto. You?"
"S-Shimura."
Somehow, Gaia felt proud watching the interaction between Naruto and the now named Shimura. He could be a big softie sometimes that blondie.
"Do you know where your house is?" Naruto asked.
"No."
"Your parents?" Gaia spoke up beside the boy.
"No."
"Do you remember anything or anyone?" John questioned.
"No. Shimura has no daddy or mommy."
Martha gasped, being an orphan, at a young age like Shimura, she knew the hardships involved, and he was all alone too, unlike her. At least she had John. The platinum-blonde haired detective shifted uncomfortably and an air of sympathy filled the living room until Naruto flicked the boy on the head and scoffed as he rolled his eyes.
"Naruto!" Kuroka barked.
"Tell me, Shimura, where's your mom?" Naruto asked all traces of friendliness gone.
"What are you doing, Naruto? He just told us-" Naruto abruptly cut John off when he remembered he was the only empath in the house.
"He's lying."
"What?"
"Shimura thought it was better if you didn't know about Shimura's Mommy," The boy said his first sentence. He paused when he saw that he had gained everyone's attention. "My Daddy is dead and Mommy tried her best to take care of Shimura. She loved Shimura, she cared for Shimura and Shimura was happy but then, Takeshi-teme came to our house."
"Takeshi-teme? How old is this boy?" Gaia pondered.
"Takeshi-teme married Mommy and since then, Mommy didn't treat Shimura like before. Mommy ignored Shimura. Takeshi-teme took Shimura's Mommy away from Shimura."
"He was neglected."
