Chapter 23 - 023 South China Sea Secrets

When Jian Yumei discovered the testament of the South China Sea immortal in that cave, he immersed himself in studying it, oblivious to the fact that dusk had fallen outside. Suddenly, he noticed that Lin Li was no longer in sight, and Jian Yumei looked around in surprise. Two golden-crowned snakes were hissing there, as if they wanted to convey something to him. Then their heads swayed outward, seemingly indicating a direction. Jian Yumei set the book aside and walked outside the cave hall. At that moment, a scent wafted in from outside, and Jian Yumei sniffed delicately—it was the smell of roasting meat.

Jian Yumei saw Lin Li at the entrance of the cave, where a bonfire had been lit on the open ground, and she was roasting a wild rabbit. Jian Yumei chuckled; suddenly, he felt hunger pangs, and he swallowed. "Hey, junior brother, weren't you reading? I didn't want to disturb you since you were so engrossed! I came out, caught a rabbit, gathered some firewood, and lit this bonfire. What do you think?" Lin Li said.

"Not bad at all. I'm hungry too, sister. I didn't expect you to be so resourceful!" Jian Yumei praised.

"Well, I'll be resourceful in the future! Lin Li said, blushing slightly.

"Hehe," Jian Yumei walked over to the roasted rabbit and tore off a piece, then put it in his mouth. "Really good, very fragrant!" But he soon felt something missing. "We're eating this plain? Did we forget to bring salt?" Jian Yumei said.

"Yeah, I'll remember next time. I didn't expect us to come out and roast something to eat. Next time, we'll bring salt! Junior brother, just make do with this for now! Haha!" Lin Li said.

"All right! I feel quite content already!" Jian Yumei said, then continued tearing into the rabbit meat.

"Slow down, junior brother!" Lin Li said.

Jian Yumei looked at his senior sister, feeling that she had changed a lot recently. Could it be true that a woman undergoes a drastic transformation? From being stubborn to gentle? But what exactly could change a girl into a woman? Love, perhaps, or something else? Jian Yumei pondered hard for a moment but came up with nothing. Oh well, he would probably find out later! After all, his senior sister had indeed started to behave like a woman lately.

"Sister, you should eat too! You've worked hard; you should eat more!" Jian Yumei said.

"You should eat more; you're a man, whereas I'm just a little girl! I can't eat much!" Lin Li said. Nevertheless, she was afraid Jian Yumei would find it uninteresting if she didn't eat, so she started tearing off pieces of rabbit meat and eating.

They quickly finished off the rabbit.

"Do you think these snakes eat this meat?" Lin Li asked Jian Yumei.

"Let's try!" Jian Yumei gently placed a piece of meat from the book in front of one of the golden snakes, but it ignored it and seemed to shake its head, curling up to one side. The two snakes remained coiled there, watching Jian Yumei and Lin Li! They seemed like two pets sitting there.

Unbeknownst to Jian Yumei and Lin Li, they found these two golden snakes inexplicably adorable!

"They probably know what they eat themselves! Let's just let nature take its course! This might be best for them!" Jian Yumei said.

"Junior brother, have you finished reading this book?" Lin Li asked.

"Not yet. I only briefly looked at the martial arts section. The martial arts of the South China Sea immortal should be derived from the Shaolin lineage, but there is a distinction between Northern Shaolin and Southern Wudang. However, in essence, they both emphasize internal and external aspects. Many techniques originate from the same lineage!" Jian Yumei said.

"What else have you gathered from it?" Lin Li asked.

"A lot. There are many things here that resonate with our daily martial arts. Look at this Ling Kong Palm—it's called the Splitting Sky Palm in their school, with slight variations in technique. After looking at this illustration, I understand a lot!" Jian Yumei said.

"Go on, junior brother. What else have you gleaned?" Lin Li said.

"There are also some inner energy methods. I will carefully analyze them another day! Because we already have a foundation, we can practice techniques from other schools as long as they don't conflict significantly. By doing so, we can stimulate different parts of our bodies, leading to better improvement!" Jian Yumei said.

"Oh, junior brother, what did the South China Sea immortal mainly cultivate in terms of inner energy?" Lin Li asked.

"He focused on cultivating light!" Jian Yumei said.

"Light!" Lin Li repeated.

"Yes, light! Originally, the Shaolin kung fu was passed down from Bodhidharma, who came from India. His martial arts must have been Indian martial arts, and they certainly had a tradition of cultivating light!" Jian Yumei said.

"How does one start cultivating it? Have you understood?" Lin Li asked.

"Well, you see, the basic exercise here is visualization. You can meditate with your five hearts facing the sky, silently visualizing the light of the universe pouring down from the celestial realm. At that moment, it's as if your head opens up, and the light of the universe, filled with various energies, flows into your body. There's a white light column from the Baihui acupoint to the Huiyin acupoint within your body, and the white light circulates horizontally inside your body in concentric circles. Then, while visualizing, you make hand seals, known as Heart, Mouth, and Body seals. This is called the combination of inner visualization, oral recitation, and body movements. Unexpectedly, this can produce extraordinary power, which can be used to attain wisdom or martial arts!" Jian Yumei said.

"What results can they ultimately achieve?" Lin Li asked.

"In the end, they can be immune to poisons, stimulate potential, and greatly increase their power!" Jian Yumei said.

"That's the principle! Junior brother!" Lin Li said.

"When our martial arts reach a very high level, can't we just go everywhere and have fun?" Lin Li said cheerfully.

"Sister, achieving that is a very arduous process! Actually, if we practice our own techniques well and then incorporate the techniques of the South China Sea immortal, we will see results! Jian Yumei said.
