Chapter 20 - Speechless.

"She looks like a cheap slut," Nathan muttered to himself after glancing at Bassy from head to toe. Noticing the long, skinny gray skirt that Bassy wore on top of a white crop top, the skirt effectively showcased her well-rounded, curved waist and elegant hips. Her black slippers, mixed with touches of gray, matched her dress perfectly, making her look more casual and simple.

Nathan never wanted to admit to himself that she looked good; moreover, she was more like a laughingstock back then in the village, so why should he see her differently now?

Almost everyone in the village believed that she had been sleeping with different men, which is why she couldn't pinpoint one man as the father of her child but instead decided to put the blame on Edu because he no longer lived in the village.

On a normal day, Bassy used to have a good fashion sense back in secondary school. But everything changed when she got pregnant. It's not like she no longer had fashion sense neither did she suddenly hate fashion, but there was no money to buy fancy clothes, shoes, or bags; perhaps, she had a baby to look out for and a mouth to feed, so looking good was always the least of her problems.

It was a fairly used dress she bought in the market two days ago just for this special day; she hadn't bought a new dress for herself in over three years now. Any money she made from her business was either for her son's school fees or his clothing, and the rest went for feeding.

Although her dress looked a little bit presentable, her skin was a wreck because she didn't invest in her body. It's not like she didn't want to, but she didn't have the money, so she didn't care.

"Good afternoon, Nathan," Bassy greeted with a warm smile curving over her face. She tapped Gabriel to greet him too.

"Good afternoon, sir," Gabriel greeted with a tiny voice that was barely above a whisper.

Nathan was disappointed to see Gabriel looking the opposite of what he thought he'd be looking like. Gabriel looked chubby with beautiful plump skin; he didn't look anything like a child born out of weird luck.

"Your son looks really good; he's growing so fast," Nathan uttered in amusement at how healthy Gabriel appeared.

His sudden snub to her greeting got Bassy wondering, "Is he that mad at me because I came earlier than expected?" she asked herself.

"Thank you," she acknowledged his compliment with a soft tone.

Nathan carried Gabriel, who was standing next to Bassy, inside the compound, telling Bassy to follow them with a kind gesture.

It's a block of flats with nice furniture. Bassy wondered how a student like Nathan could afford such a luxurious lifestyle, knowing fully well that he's not from a rich background.

She could tell it's his house because his pictures were all over the ash wall with lots of art frames. The couches in the parlor were so fashionable and looked really expensive; they seemed finer than her boss's own.

Nathan switched on his 6.8-inch plasma TV hanging on the well-framed wall decorated with wallpapers for them to see a movie.

He ordered Bassy, who was standing at the grand entrance door nervously, to sit down.

Bassy was kind of flabbergasted because she had never dared to make an attempt to sit on her boss's couch for over four months now that she started working in Abuja. Moreover, she's not used to seeing such luxurious houses.

"You mean I should sit?" she asked, dumbfounded.

"Yes, of course, sit down, or do you want to remain standing?" Nathan asked with a trace of a grin in his eyes moving to the kitchen door.

Bassy smirked intensely before she slowly went to sit on the edge of the couch, holding Gabriel's hand.

"Is he my daddy?" Gabriel whispered in Bassy's ear, glancing at Nathan with his innocent brown eyes.

Nathan chuckled inwardly upon hearing what Gabriel asked his mother, but Bassy's reply got him speechless.

"Do you want to live here?" she whispered.

Gabriel shook his head resolutely. "I want to live with you," he answered with a sad gesture.

"Well, he's not your father, but we'll be meeting him soon," Bassy smiled at how much her son loved her even if she doesn't have anything.

"Poor boy," Nathan said in his thoughts, "how can a child be without knowing his father? When you tell all these little girls to keep their legs closed, they'll never listen. Well, it's a good thing I'm about to take my share of her puzzy."

Bassy was astounded upon realizing Nathan, who she thought had headed to the kitchen, was sitting on the dining chair after he cleared his throat.

Nathan cleared his throat noticing Bassy doesn't realize his presence.

Bassy wanted to ask Nathan how he managed to afford such a luxurious lifestyle at a young age, even as a student, but she couldn't quite find the right words. Perhaps the words had refused to come out of her mouth, noticing how strictly Nathan was acting with her.

"Is Edu coming here, or will we be going to him?" she asked, her tone crackling slightly above a murmur.

"He was supposed to give me a call whenever he's ready to see you," Nathan replied, rising from his chair and strolling over to where Bassy was seated.

Standing behind Bassy, Nathan glanced at her awkwardly. "You know, Bassy, I've always had a crush on you since our secondary school days," he confessed, a faint grin appearing on his cheek. "Almost all the male students in my class used to be jealous of Edu just because of you."

"Your facial beauty was perfect, naturally endowed with an elegant body shape, extremely intelligent, and well-mannered. What enticed me the most about you was the fact that you never got stained in school; your uniform was always well ironed, and you were always composed. You were everybody's ideal, and I'm pretty sure you knew that," Nathan continued, his words making Bassy feel increasingly uncomfortable.

Bassy glanced at him awkwardly, wondering why he was bringing up these things now.

Nathan gently reached his hand towards Bassy's hair, which looked somewhat unkempt. "I can make you that beautiful again," he murmured, his hand twitching as he reached for her breast. "I'm not saying we should start dating; I just want you to be my... Mistress. All your bills on me from today."

His warm breath felt like acid on Bassy's neck.

Nathan's sudden advance left Bassy speechless. Was he trying to make fun of her or take advantage of her? She asked herself, nervous about what to do next.

"Uhm, it's already past four," Bassy spoke nervously, trying to change the subject.

"Yeah, I know," Nathan replied, shifting his lips to Bassy's ear and breathing into it as he spoke. "Wake up from your fantasy dreams. Edu will never want you back in his life. I'm offering you the opportunity to be my mistress."

The word echoed in Bassy's ears, angering her instantly. "Mistress? Not even a girlfriend? Am I that bad?" she muttered to herself. "Please, Nathan, stop this. My son is watching," she spoke firmly amidst her nervousness.

"We'll switch the channel to Disney Junior while we go upstairs to have our fun. I've never had sex with a lady who has given birth before, and I want to give it a try."

"When is Edu coming?" Bassy interrupted him trying to comport herself but this time with a serious tone.

"He said I should bring you to his house. But I'll only do that on one condition," Nathan said, gesturing his fingers towards Bassy's nipple and lowering his head to meet her gaze. "Let's have just one round here before we go."
