"A pyramid scheme," Richard replied grimly, the disdain in his voice clear. "Desmond was certain it was foolproof. He said he had a way to bring in large investors, but they needed seed money to get it going. The promise was that, within two weeks all involved would make ten times their investment," he said and even though none of them spoke out, they all concluded it was some sort of scam.
Phil leaned forward slightly, listening with sharp interest. "And Andrew... he didn't fall for it, did he?"
Richard shook his head. "No. He didn't. He asked Desmond how many people had already bought in. Desmond's face changed when he had to admit that no one had yet. Andrew didn't like that. He thought it was too risky—too much smoke, not enough fire. So, he turned Desmond down," he said and sighed.
"I wish I hadn't bothered too," He said as he raised his palm to cover his face.
"What happened? How did you two get involved?" Ruby asked equally curious.
