The next day, Fiona shuffled around the kitchen trying to prepare something really quick for her mom but the usual spring in her step was replaced by a dull thud.
Even the sunshine filtering through the window seemed dimmed by the shadows under her eyes. She had been unable to sleep well the previous night because of the knot in her mind.
Diana, who was on the bed, watched as Fiona tried to look enthusiastic as she approached with their breakfast and she couldn't help but wonder what must have transpired between her and Liam.
She had noticed that Fiona seemed to have a lot on her mind which had to mean she wasn't fine as she thought. Although she wanted to ask again, she knew Fiona wouldn't open up, much like her father.
Wanting to at least try her luck, Diana inquired, "Everything alright, love?" her voice laced with concern as Fiona dropped the tray of breakfast on the stool beside the bed and sat down to eat with her mom.
