Chapter 7 - Temptation

Fiona and Liam walked out of the boutique a couple of hours later, both of them carrying two shopping bags each and a salesperson followed behind them with the rest bags.

After Liam arrived, he had asked the driver to return the car he brought Fiona in and go be with his family since his services wouldn't be needed again for that day.

Fiona couldn't believe that Liam had spent the past couple of hours choosing and paying for whatever she liked that looked good on her.

Even though Fiona had felt very uncomfortable having Liam pay for all the dress she picked and tried on, she had had to let him buy because of Vanessa's presence and because she didn't have that amount of money to pay herself. The dresses were too damned beautiful and expensive for someone like her.

Because she knew that, she had wanted to only pick out two more dresses to add to the two she had bought before his arrival, but Liam had insisted she tried more dresses.

Now that they were out and alone, she was just going to reject the clothes. They were too many and she didn't want them. The last thing she wanted was for anyone to accuse her of being a gold digger or for him to go to her manager later and accuse her of stealing.

Fiona turned to him after they were comfortably seated in the car. "You know I don't need this. I can't take them. And about that date, did you mean it?" she said and he cocked his brow.

"Did I sound like I was joking? Of course, I meant it. I'm taking you out for dinner by 7 pm...."

"But...."

"We need to make up a good story, a believable one for my mom and I want us to do that over dinner. It's by 7 pm so you'd have to get ready for it. You don't have to worry about this going beyond our contract," Liam said and just then Fiona remembered his lie.

"Speaking of which, why did you have to lie about my social class? You made it look as though I'm a significant figure in the society. I don't like it. We have to think of something else....."

"There's nothing else to think of or say. That's the only thing that would make my mom approve of you for me," Liam cut in and Fiona shook her head.

"There are other ways that she could approve of me. We tell her I work in a well-known company..."

"Do you? No offense, but do you work in a renowned company?" Liam interjected again and Fiona couldn't help feeling hurt and ashamed for the first time since she started working at the agency.

Why was she feeling so all of a sudden? It wasn't like that was the first time a client had indirectly referred to her job as indecent so what was different?

Maybe it was because he was right or maybe because her mother had just finished her treatment and she was leaving the job soon.

Thankfully, things were about to change for her since one of the big companies she had dropped her resume had finally called her for an interview. She thought and then smiled.

"Well, I'm about to start working in a big company," she said excitedly and Liam chuckled as he watched her.

Was being hired by a big company that important to her? He mused and then decided to ask her just that.

"Why do you seem excited? Are you that happy to start working in a big company? If you want, I can hire you, you know?"

Fiona laughed sarcastically. "You, hire me? I think I'll pass," she said and he raised a brow.

"Why?"

"Because I don't want to have to see your face except I run into you by accident which I'm sure would never happen," she declared and Liam nodded before turning on the car's engine.

"Suit yourself, then," he said as he drove off.

"Yeah. So, about what you told Vanessa, I still think lying that way isn't the best thing to do," she said, returning back to the topic.

"Yet you're here right now because you're getting paid to lie to her. It doesn't matter. After a month or so, when I'm sure Cora is in a relationship, I'm just going to tell my mom we broke up. So there's nothing to worry about," he said and even though Fiona wasn't entirely okay with that decision, she let it be.

"About sharing a room with you...."

"You can't refuse either. My mom gets wind of everything going on with me in my house. It would be suspicious if she's told we love each other so much only to hear we don't share a room," Liam countered and Fiona sighed.

"Nobody has to know. I could follow you to your room, stay there till late midnight, and sneak off when we're sure they won't go upstairs again. As early as 5 a.m. I'll return to your room. That way, they won't suspect a thing," Fiona said and after giving it a thought, Liam shrugged.

"That isn't a good idea. We have to share the room. Like I said earlier, you don't have to be scared of me taking advantage of you. I won't do anything to you, unless you want it," he said and Fiona shook her head.

"Nothing can ever happen between us," she stated and he nodded.

"Then you shouldn't have a problem with sharing a room with me," he said and Fiona sighed before turning to the window, leaving Liam to focus on his driving.

Just as they arrived home, Liam's phone started ringing. When he took out his phone to see who it was, he wasn't the least bit surprised to see that it was his mom.

"I guess she's heard the news," he said to Fiona before receiving the call as they continued to his bedroom.

"Mom," he said the moment he received the call.

"How are you, son?" Harriet Parker asked, and Liam chuckled.

"We both know that's not why you called. I knew I shouldn't have taken her there," Liam said and his mother laughed.

"And miss hearing about how beautiful you both looked together? Vanessa told me that not only is she a beautiful girl but she's also an heiress. Who is her father and what is the name of their company? Can a merger between both companies yield much profits?" she asked and Liam glanced at Fiona.

"Why don't you ask me all you need to ask on Sunday? I have a dinner date to prepare for," Liam said before hanging up.

After the shopping bags had been left in the room and the household staff had left the room, Liam turned to Fiona. "Mission achieved and did I get to tell you how an excellent actress you are?" he said and grabbed her by her waist as he looked down at her.

Fiona immediately broke off when she felt another spark of electrocuting wave pass through her.

"For the duration of my time here, I'd appreciate it if you keep your hands to yourself. It makes me uncomfortable," she admitted and Liam smirked.

He walked up to her, covering the space between them and Fiona stepped back. He took another step forward causing her to take two more backwards until her back hit the wall and she realized she was cornered by him.

"What..are you..doing?" she stuttered and he rested his two hands on the wall besides her face, trapping her.

"Why?" he asked and she frowned, confusion kicking in as she couldn't remember why he was asking her why.

"Huh?" she managed, and Liam wiggled his brow at her.

"Why do you feel uncomfortable? Can't stop fantasizing about me?" he asked in a husky voice.

Fiona swallowed. She could see raw desire in his eyes and she knew if she didn't do something, she was going to fall into this temptation. Fiona told herself.

"You have to stop doing this. It won't work on me," she said, more to herself than to him and he smirked.

Dropping both his hands and creating a space between them, he said, "We'll see about that."

Not waiting to hear whatever she had to say to that, Liam walked out of the room and headed to his cousin's room, wanting to give Fiona some space before their date.
