As soon as they stepped inside, the warmth of Phil and Elena's home enveloped them. The tension from earlier still hung in the air, but the familiar setting brought some sort of calm to then even though it was just for the moment.
Phil and Elena exchanged a brief look before Phil spoke up.
"Elena and I will get dinner started," he said, his tone gentle yet firm.
After everything that had been said and with how it was connected to Liam's father, Phil and Elena knew that Liam and Fiona needed space to talk, and it was clear that something more needed to be said after the weighty discussions of the night.
Without wasting time, Elena nodded, offering a small, encouraging smile to Fiona. "We'll call you when it's ready," she said and with that, the two of them left the room, leaving Fiona, Liam, and Diana standing in the living room, the silence stretching between them like a taut rope.
