Chapter 14 - Cora Murphy

A couple of minutes later, Fiona stepped out, wrapped in her towel, thinking Liam must've left the room. On seeing him, a blush stole her face as she didn't know whether to go back into the bathroom or continue with dressing up.

Liam felt a stir in his groin when he raised his eyes to look at her. He tried unsuccessfully to tear his gaze away.

Seeing the lust in his eyes reminded Fiona became self conscious as his words from last night came to mind.

Although he had apologized, she wasn't ready to forgive him. If she did, she was just going to end up in bed with him seeing how he clearly wanted her and she was struggling to not give in to her desires as well.

She mused and scowled. "Don't you think it's time you stopped looking at me that way? I'm sure you've practically undressed me with those eyes," she said, snapping Liam out of his lust.

He cleared his throat. "If you didn't want that, you probably should've dressed up in the bathroom," Liam said and Fiona flashed him an incredulous look.

He just seemed to know how to annoy her. A definition of a jerk, not deserving of her forgiveness. "You just seem to keep proving to me that you're a jerk!" Fiona said as she angrily grabbed her clothes and stormed into the bathroom to dress up.

She returned to the room a moment later, dressed in a red multicolored playsuit that she had brought with her.

"Not bad. I see you've got a taste in clothes," Liam commented since he had observed that from the clothes she had picked out at the boutique the previous day.

"You don't know me," she said as she headed for the door and Liam followed behind her.

"I intend to learn more about you," he said and Fiona rolled her eyes not seeing the need to reply to that.

It was pointless. It was Friday already and she had just the next day to live there. The next day was the date and after that, she was going to leave and make sure they don't cross paths again.

The smell of freshly brewed tea, baked bread, and scrambled eggs, filled the dining as Fiona and Liam arrived there.

Fiona's stomach rumbled at the sight of food. The previous night at dinner, she had tried to conceal her bad eating habits because she was sort of trying to impress Liam but right now, she wasn't sure she was going to do that.

She was hungry and she needed to eat. Before she could pull out her chair, Liam pulled out a chair beside the center one he was supposed to sit and when she glared at him, he smiled sweetly at her.

"You don't have to do that while I'm here," Liam said, and seeing as Mary serving their food, she smiled back.

"You don't have to do that, babe. I can get my own seat, you know?" she said as she took her seat and Liam walked to his chair and did the same.

"I know, you can. Still, I have to treat you like the queen you are. My Queen," he said, holding her gaze.

"Queen, indeed," she said, smiling sweetly at him.

Mary, who had been pouring some tea into their cups looked up to glance at them. A fond, yet sad smile played on her lips.

As much as she was happy he was in a relationship, she hoped that this Fiona girl wouldn't break Liam's heart.

Once their food had been served, Fiona spared no effort in devouring the bread that was served to her while Liam who hadn't expected her to be much of a eater because of her figure, looked at her in amusement.

The way she ate made him want to also eat more than his usual fill and he sort of liked it.

When she noticed his gaze on her, she immediately became self-conscious. "What?" Fiona asked, and he shook his head.

"You look cute when you eat," he said and Fiona rolled her eyes.

"That's not a compliment and I'd totally understand if you think I eat like a glutton," Fiona said and Liam laughed.

"I never complained or said I thought so. I like it actually," he said and Fiona opened her mouth to argue but snapped it shut when a household staff came into view.

"Miss Cora is here....." before she could finish, a young lady jumped out from the corner where she had hidden while the maid told Liam of her presence.

"Cora?" Liam asked, pleasantly surprised. "Why are you here so early? I mean didn't mom say you were getting into town today?" Liam asked excessively as he got up.

Fiona watched with a frown as Cora jumped on Liam, hugging him very tightly. Why was she holding him that way? She mused in annoyance.

"I missed you so much, Li," Cora said even as she still held on to Liam.

"It feels so good to have you here," Liam said and when the hug had lasted way too long, he pulled away.

"How are you? You've grown so big and beautiful," Liam said and Fiona glared at his back.

How could he say he had a girlfriend, yet was flirting with another girl and completely forgetting about her? Or had he suddenly just forgotten how to act his part just because that girl was there? Who was she anyway? She mused.

"Well, you're not looking bad yourself. I actually didn't know you were going to turn out this handsome, you know?" Cora asked and Fiona cleared her throat.

Liam and Cora turned to her and while Cora was wondering who she was, Liam was wondering whether or not Fiona was getting jealous over his little display with Cora.

"Forgive my manners, babe. This is Cora Murphy. My childhood friend who had been out of the country for ten years and just got back." he said to Fiona and turned to Cora who had a frown on her face after hearing Liam refer to Fiona as 'babe.'

"Cora, darling, this is Fiona. My girlfriend," he introduced.

"Your girlfriend?" she asked with displeasure and Liam nodded. When her father had told her about his and Liam's mother's plan to matchmake her and Liam, no one had told her he was involved with a woman, so what was going on?
