"There will be no government interference, for now at least," Gwen replied. "I have no doubt that they may try and get involved in the future but for now you don't have to worry. Director Fury is doing everything he can to keep them off of your backs and as long as you report to him that should be enough to satisfy everyone and as long as you don't threaten the world nobody else will need to get involved. So, are you going to join?" She asked.
"I will think about it and give you an answer." Harry responded after a short pause. "I have a few people I need to discuss this with first."
"Fair enough." Gwen replied with a small nod.
"You know, for a wizard, you're not very fun." Tony said to Harry.
"You realize that I can turn all of your alcohol into water?" Harry said in a threatening tone.
"You wouldn't!" Stark gasped in horror.
"Keep pushing and you'll find out." Harry smirked before downing the rest of his drink.
"Alright," Harry said later. "admittedly this was more fun than I expected but I'm going now, so...goodbye everyone."
"Goodbye Harry," Everyone in the room, apart from Natasha, said. Padfoot barked and everyone looked at him. "Goodbye Padfoot." They said, Padfoot grinned before walking out alongside Harry.
"Hey Harry," Natasha followed after him. "if you're going do you mind dropping me off?" She asked.
"Sure." Harry nodded. Padfoot barked before activating the portkey that Harry had built into his collar and portkeying away. "Grab on." Harry offered his arm to Natasha.
"Thank you." She smiled at him and took his arm, a second later the two transported into the middle of Natasha's apartment. "Thanks." She said.
"You're welcome," Harry replied. "so I guess I'll be off then."
"Wait," Natasha said. "the Avengers, do you think it can work?" She asked.
"Honestly, I don't know." Harry admitted. "I see a lot of things that can go wrong with it, so many different people together, each with different experiences and all with the potential to do a lot of damage. But...I can also see a lot of good that can be done if it goes right. It's a gamble really."
"Hmm." Natasha hummed, she looked at him, her eyes locked onto his.
"Nat?" Harry asked, suddenly realizing that she hadn't really let go of his arm.
"Harry." She said in a soft voice. "Do you think 'we' can work?" She asked.
"Honestly...I don't know." Harry replied, his voice equally as soft.
"We can find out, together." She said, as she moved her hands so they were on his shoulders, she pulled him in closer and then she closed her eyes and kissed him.
.....
Harry's eyes slowly opened, he was tired but was simply glad he hadn't woken up to another voice again. He heard the sound of soft breathing, and felt a small weight on his chest. Natasha was lying next to him, her head on his chest with her arm resting over his stomach and one of her legs wrapped around his own. Harry allowed himself a small mental sigh as he looked her.
She was sleeping peacefully, looking like an innocent little kitten and not like a master class assassin. The fact that they were both completely naked underneath the bed sheets did not escape Harry's attention. He could definitely feel certain parts of him gladly accept the situation. She looked peaceful and Harry couldn't help but feel peaceful, if he could then he would gladly freeze time and spend the next few hours of his life like this. But regrettably he could not.
Harry took a small breath before gently extracting himself while taking special care to not wake up Nat. He went to the bathroom and after a quick teeth brushing charm he stepped into the shower after making sure the water was at an enjoyable temperature, while he could clean himself with a wave of his wand he still liked to have showers, he closed his eyes as the water hit his snowy white hair, he felt it run down to his neck followed by his shoulders then the rest of his body.
Harry was using his shower time as a chance to think, sleeping with Natasha had made things complicated. On the one hand it was a very bad idea, bringing emotions and feelings into things could affect their work relationship and friendship. When Harry and Hill had got physical together they had both made it clear that it was purely physical enjoyment, no emotional feelings attached. But Natasha was different, he doubted that they could maintain the same relationship he had with Hill.
This could end up affecting their performance in the field, Harry knew for sure that if he had to prioritize one person over the other then Natasha would likely come out on top. He knew he probably didn't have to worry about her as she could very easily handle herself out in the field, the battle against the Chitauri in New York was enough proof of that, but she wasn't immortal, nor did she have a healing factor like Harry did.
