Chapter 47 - Little worries

Taking my eyes off his stare, I sat down and held my head as low as it could get. Stuffing my mouth without changing the position of my head. There was a high possibility that I would throw up if I did.

'My people's phobia has flared up again!' I thought. Focusing on eating my food.

Unbeknown's to Dawn, everybody was busy stuffing their heads in food too and nobody had the time to look at her. Of course, other than Lucas, who was only at the table because he was too afraid to stay in his room alone. Not when this many strangers were inside the house.

"Okay, I have decided. I will stay here and help you with your arrival announcement banquet, great granddaughter!"

The pale and demon-like handsome great grandfather suddenly announced while licking the corner of his mouth. His voice was so full of pride and dignity, but his saucy cheek and full to the brim second plate were not.

Dumbfounded, I looked up from my plate, strings of spaghetti still hanging from my mouth.

'Who wants your help???'

The thought of unwillingness filled me. Why? I don't know.

"Dear great grandfather. I don't want to burden you..." I said while smiling politely.

I'm sure my twitching cheek muscles weren't helping me sound honest at all because his archdemon-like face turned sour.

"Are you refusing my help?" He said with a neutral expression but a threatening tone.

Can I say yes to the face that says I will kill you generously slowly if you are refusing my help?

"I will be in your care..." I murmured monotonously as I ate the last few strings of the spaghetti left on my plate and finally remembered to look around to see whether anything is missing.

Damn it, only could explain how I felt after seeing the scene in front of me. I am already regretting accepting his offer. When looking at damn grandfather's father earlier, I hadn't realized it, but he had the entire rice cake and fruit salad in front of him while also having an empty plate of spaghetti and a half empty plate of spaghetti too.

Since the other plates were empty, she wasn't sure who had eaten them. The others probably had only spaghetti and some salad. The greedy fossil was still eating while making sure not to let anyone touch the food he had claimed to be his.

He had such a good appetite that it made me hungry again. To be exact, everyone became hungry again as they devoured the look and smell of the fragrant golden cake and then the crispy and juicy fresh fruits.

Last time I felt this torturing was when I had to pull three shifts in a row and watched a live where a chubby mukbanger ate a try of crispy fried chicken while I gulped down my cold tuna kimbap with caffeine drink. This scene was just that traumatizing...

At this moment I got eye to eye with the one traumatizing everyone. He motioned his head upward with a raised brow. I could only shake my head.

' He is a mukbanger, he is a mukbanger on the other side of the screen. You can't become angry because he is but just another mukbanger on the other side of a cold screen...'

After trying to infuse that thought in my mind unsuccessfully for half a second, I just couldn't bear it anymore and stood up from my chair.

Then something weird happened. I got offered napkins from my both sides. No less than from the aloof guys, Cinnamon and Lucas.

" Clean your drool!"

Seemed like they had read the confusion in my eyes and responded. It felt so embarrassing, but I tried to act cool, so under everyone's empathizing eyes, I cleaned my mouth before making an excuse to leave.

"I hope everyone enjoyed the meal! Could anyone help me bring the dishes to the kitchen while I prepare the desserts, please?" I asked with a slightly heated face and hurriedly ran away to the kitchen.

"Beeeez!"

On my way to the kitchen, something happened that used to be a nightmare. Taking out my phone from my pocket, I tapped on its screen and looked at its still blank surface with narrowed eyes.

"Are you too messing with me? You had a freaking 50% battery before when I was cooking and I havn't even used you! Do you think just because we are in a countryside I won't be able to change you? Do you need me to remind you I have a new unboxed phone somewhere in my things? You pice of..." I whispered to my phone, arguing as I pointed at it with wide eyes.

As expected, it didn't respond. But it was really unexpected. A brand new phone that cost me a hand and a leg discharging like my old tablet I could only use while charging... Has my luck really gone that down?

Hoofing, I put it back into my pocket and continued towards the kitchen.

"Well! Well! Well! What do we have here if not my pretty girls' Nutty, chocolate and red?" I said with drool while looking at my rested cakes as I took in the delicacy aroma of vanilla and rosewater.

"Mmm, oh yeah! Mmmm, who the professors at colleague is dignity! Your fault and that old fart's fault! Mmm!"

Pointing at the strawberry cake in my hand with three large bite marks on it, I shamelessly blamed it with my creamy mouth. No remorse.

"Is it good?"

"You know you could have used a fork, right?"

"Cough! Cough!"

Officially caught doing crazy actions by the two goats in the house for the second time.

"Here, have some water." Lucas said with a smirk.

"Thanks! Oh, you brought the disks? Thank you, just put them anywhere and if you are not too tired, wait to help me bring dessert!!" I said, awkwardly, as I put the bitten cake back in the fridge and brought the other three out.

"Lucas, could you bring out the dessert plates? They are in the cubin' behind you!"

I asked as I took the cake cutting knife, rinsed it with hot water, dried it and started dividing with the first cake. 10 equal parts.

"What should I do? "

Emerald unexpectedly asked. After a few seconds of being in shock, I pointed the knife in my hand to one cabinet.

"Could you bring ten glasses and two pitchers? Place them in a tray please! The trays are right there!"

I told her the directions as I went to the second cake and cut that, too. Into a similar number of pieces.

Initially, I planned to place one piece of each flavour for everyone on their plates and have one uncut for anyone who wanted more, but thinking back to what happened during the dinner, I changed my mind and first divided the last cake into eight pieces, then divided each piece into four triangles.

"It should be enough to prevent great grandfather from thinking this is one serving, right?" I mumbled to myself.

"Like you did?"

This time it was Emerald's turn to smirk sarcastically!

"No, it is one serving for the chef, but not for anyone else!" I said while smiling cooly. I have baked the whole thing, kiddo! I deserve this!

"Plate?"

I extended my hand towards Lucas, and the next second I had them in my hands. Now, the mediating part begins. Place each piece perfectly on the plate, garnish the strawberry piece's side sugar powder and strawberry sauce while garnishing the nuts piece's side with unsweetened cacao powder and nuts.

"Aren't I so talented? Isn't these art?" I hummed questions happily without wanting an answer. Not that they would give me one if I wanted them to!

Serving the cakes with juice, I handed in everyone their plates personally. Worried the great grandfather might devour everything alone.

"How can food be so fluffy and yummy?" Turquoise questioned with creamy cheeks and widened eyes while everyone else enjoyed my creation, too.

"Not bad for my stupid son's granddaughter. You seem to have taken after the great me and have talent!"

"Indeed, sir, not bad for that guy's granddaughter! Hmmm. Not bad at all!"

"UHH!"

"Hmph! The only one who gets to talk shit about my offspring is me..."

Noted!

"Sooo good sister!"

This guy really...

"Thank's uncle Silver!!!"

"Hmm, eatable, no wonder you wanted to eat the whole thing..."

My eye twitched, but I endured it since she was still complementing.

"Hah, you say it like that when you are eating like, it is the best food in the world..."

I nodded in respect. This guy was this fearless even after seeing what she was capable of... Truly fearless!

"Wanna die gold eyed ugly duckling?"

"No thank you, green brocoli!"

The flood of compliments made my heart flutter, and my mouth couldn't stop smiling. The only one who hadn't complemented was Sinnamon. Even the beautiful elf had muttered "not bad "with raised brows.

"If you won't be eating your piece, I could do it for you!" Silver announced, with shimmering eyes.

"I could do that for him too!" The great grandfather commented too.

Very curious! How is it that this guy still has space?

Sinnamon, who got targeted from both sides, draw his plate closer and stuffed everything his mouth without even breathing in between.

"Hahah!"

"Sinnamon has a mustache!"

"Hahha!"

The evening was so peaceful and full of happiness that I should have guessed how much of a catastrophe was awaiting us. As we got lost in our own laughers sounds, deaf to everything else, the creepy monster of doom was slowly approaching.

So close that it could even hear our deepest thoughts. Closer than us to ourselves.
