"Hu! Okay, I will be honest with you! They could potentially be a ten. But listen to me, they don't bite without a reason, and if we don't give them a reason, they won't have anything to do with us!"
Lucas frowned. I continued hurriedly.
"Our land is very huge. There is a mountain and a river between us, and the castle is almost three miles away from their territory."
He was still frowning. I smiled at him.
"Look, we can do a lot of things here! We have a castle to search for treasures, we can do farming and appreciate nature! We might even buy horses and do horseback riding."
I tried with my all to convince him to stay. I wanted to be away from society and my circumstances, even if for three months.
Lucas made a troubled face.
"Okey! Okay! Fine, don't cry! "
Surprised, I touched my face. It wasn't wet. Lucas grinned. Wow, his mode changes faster than mine. That is a great personality, would I say...
Lucas stretched his head to look at the content.
"You are so slow! I am hungry!" he commented in a demanding tone.
I gave him side eyes and the frying pan.
"Turn on the heat and put the frying pan on it, then add a little oil," I said while thinking, do I look like his private chef?
He looked at the pan with uncertainness but finally took it.
This spoiled young master! He didn't even know how to turn on the stove. He looked at it as if he was neutralizing an atomic bomb.
"Like this? It doesn't turn on. I think it's broken! "
I went over.
"No! Turn it the other way and choose this one from the touch!" I explained and turned to see if he understood.
Lucas burst out.
"Are you asking me to touch the surface? Do you think I am dumb? Do you want me to burn??? Do it yourself!"
Was he this oblivious? No wonder the bonus was so high, it seems to be an impossible fit. Shaking my head, I just turned on the stove and put the pan on it. I was dumb to think he would be able to help.
"If the bowl won't hurt your hand, could you bring it over, princess?"
Red and fuming is what Lucas looked like. I could almost see his head giving out steam.
"Lucas, breathe in, breathe out! Hu! Hu!"
His look made me flinch. Am I being intimidated by someone half my age?
"Heh heh! It was a joke, it wasn't funny, no? You can go play with the animals or arrange your room. I will call you when the food is ready! "
The oil looked hot enough. I poured a big spoon and spread it. After a few seconds, I heard Lucas's powerful stomping getting lower and lower.
"Wow, I have made a lot!"
Garnishing the servings with salted pickles and tomatoes, and done. It looks delicious, and the aroma is killing me!
My stomach sounded. I patted it gently with a smile.
" Do not worry child, I shall fill you up soon~~"
Lucas's voice made me jump up.
"Crazy..."
"That scared me! Why do you come without noise??" I said, holding my heart.
He rolled his eyes and sat down in front of one of the servings. I poured water for both of us and sat in front of him. Lucas took a bite.
I stared at him, waiting for his reaction.
"Is it good?" I asked with enthusiasm.
He pointed to his closed mouth as he chewed the food. Swallowing the food, he took another bite.
Seeing this, I started eating too. Hmm, I made this, but it's so crispy and savory! Yummy...
"Won't you regret it?" Lucas suddenly asked.
I made myself a bite and dipped it into the tomato sauce.
"Whatever you may mean?" I asked back, taking in my bite.
The crunchiness of the pickles was really to my liking.
"If my parents were alive, I wouldn't exchange them with ten times this castle..."
I looked at my food and took in another bite and chewed it more forcefully. He continued.
"Are your parents bad people?"
I looked at him and shook my index finger, implying that he was wrong.
He emptied his water.
"So what, do you hate them?"
I swallowed my bite and drank a sip of my water. Resting my head on my hands, I looked into his golden eyes with a very faint smile.
"Not necessarily! I really love them."
He looked at me as if I was an alien. It's a good feeling to have someone interested in your business.
"So why won't you give up this castle?" He retorted, not acting his age at all.
Analyzing his face, he looked almost identical to me when I was his age. I stared at him without words. It irritated him.
"Are you as bad as your brother and the guy from the other day said?" he asked me. Unlike everyone else. It wasn't funny, but it made me laugh!
"Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha! Hu! Huh!" I laughed so hard that I almost teared up.
Lucas looked dumbfounded.
"What is so funny?"
I took the tear from the corner of my eye.
"I am sorry! It's just funny that you are the first person to ask that!"
I poured both of us more water before continuing to answer his questions.
"To answer your question, I wouldn't say I am a good person, but I am not how they describe me! For example, I have never, since I graduated high school, gotten help or support from anyone, no less my grandfather, and I didn't do any sin to feel guilty about!"
I smirked, looking at the full-to-the-brim glass of mine.
"Contrary, I have always received the least out of all my siblings and given up the most... Besides, I bought this place and didn't get it for free!"
I looked at my phone. It showed 15:00.
" Finish your food. I'm going to look around the back a bit." I said to Lucas as I stood from my chair.
Lucas stood, too, his plate, shining from emptiness.
"You can do whatever you want. I am going to chill and play games... Oh, I am installing the PlayStation on the TV in my room!"
"Really? I had planned to install it on the big screen when we reassembled it. Just in case I have game room supplies, too. Like all the 4 big screens and plenty of games already on my PC. You could have that~~" I tried to change his opinion, taking into consideration that my PC had offline games on it.
"Really?"
I nodded.
"If you don't want to..."
He cut my words.
"Is the system above SS45?" He asked like a pro.
Oh, he knows his stuff! As a fellow gamer, I felt proud of him.
"Yup!" I answer with a smirk on my face.
"Deal! I want it!" He answered as he ran out of the kitchen.
Taking my eyes from the way he went, I turned to the kitchen's backdoor. Hoping to find a place for the animals to stay. Refusing to clean after Mona again.
On this side of the house, there was a huge pond with a broken statue in the middle, a huge marble gazebo a few meters behind it, and another garden, this time with both flower bushes and trees, not long behind the gazebo.
To my left, there was an enormous greenhouse. Beautifully made, using a combination of bronze and glass. At least nine meters tall.
"This looks spacious enough to contain a few animals!" I said.
"But too luxurious for them..."I added as I got closer.
I tried the beautiful bronze handle. Thankfully, locked. Unlocking the door with the key that had the same pattern as the door, I gasped. It looked like a jungle. Immense trees, overgrown bushes, hot springs, colorful butterflies, birds, and wild animals lurking around.
Getting eye-to-eye with a panther, I closed the door as fast as I could and locked it with shaking hands. Did they live there? Impossible...
Thinking of the group of wild animals in there, I ran back inside and closed the door behind me. That greenhouse most likely had a vast hole. How else would those come in?
I also ran to the front door, took in the innocent life stock, and locked the door. After double-checking all the windows, I went upstairs to make sure Lucas was in his room.
The door was open. Seeing the room, my eyes jumped up in surprise. It almost made me forget about the uninvited guests. Lucas had successfully, in this short amount of time, assembled the game supplies in the left corner of the room. He had decorated the room with car posters, his new el-guitar, and violin, and even made a card tower.
Then he had managed to, in the cutest way, fall asleep hugging a duckling. Aw, how cute! Like Dylan when he was younger.
Knock Knock Knock!
It was the sound of the front door.
Lucas opened his eyes immediately. I went to the window, drawing open the curtains. I locked eyes with a girl, with the same icy eye color as the black panther from earlier.
"Is it them again?" Lucas murmured.
I turned my head to him.
"again?"
