What was left of Madeline's vision before she succumbed to darkness was a wisp of King Edward's face, smiling evilly. Following this, there came a loud shrill cry, a toss, and a growl, as if someone was gnashing teeth and cursing. Then, there was a slight blur of two figures she couldn't quite recognize.
She couldn't even feel her heartbeat, for it faintly seemed to surrender itself to the darkness as well.
Suddenly, she felt strong hands holding her, a soft murmur, a well-known familiar scent, and a low whisper filled with fear: "Stay with me..." The voice kept murmuring before everything went completely blank, and she finally gave in to darkness.
