Draven scowled, lines appearing on his forehead as he sat in the kitchen where Brimsley was stirring a pot. He had woken up with a slight headache, and what surprised him was that he had even slept at all.
Upon waking up, he came downstairs to see a huge frown on Madeline's face while she was asleep, then he had taken her to bed.
"Brimsley," Draven called, his gaze fixed on the well-carved kitchen table. Brimsley had been his butler ever since he awoken, and the man had been loyal to him, even for a vampire who rarely acted like one.
"Yes, King Draven," Brimsley replied, giving the vampire king a side eye and wondering what could have upset him.
The sun had set, casting warm golden light through the yellow kitchen curtains. The kitchen itself was refined, made entirely of black marble. Shelves filled with plates sat at one end, while a large pot simmered on the stove hanging over an iron rod.
