Madeline's eyes fluttered open once again, just like in her last dream. She found herself standing on an empty gravel road enveloped in mist.
This time, however, a fine marble house stood in front of her. It was not large, but it exuded an aura of purity, reminiscent of stepping into a cathedral where the priest spoke of the heavenly father, the holy presence. That's how Madeline felt upon reaching this place.
The night and mist surrounding her caused a thump in her chest. "Hello," she called out frantically, her eyes scanning the empty surroundings. The mist made it impossible for her to see what lay at her side.
She started walking towards the house, her bare feet feeling the cold, prickly gravel beneath them. Her hair swayed, and she noticed once again that it was white instead of brown.
