"Oh by the way, a friend of the family is staying over so don't worry," I smiled back at Todoroki. He had relaxed so much in the last few weeks thanks to coming over and just escaping the hell that was his father. Of course it helps that Kacchan and I keep sending Endeavor malware and viruses so he has to keep going to the office to figure out how and why.
Nezu already caught us but instead of us getting into trouble he ended up giving Kacchan and I lessons in hacking so that we can cover our trail better. He found out why at the same time he caught us hacking into Endeavor's home security system when he just happened to be "training" Todoroki. Not like we tried to get caught or anything. Of course not, that would be manipulating someone with a high IQ quirk, high spec. No one could be THAT daring.
We now meet after classes twice a week for private lessons with him and as it turns out he isn't planning to stop at just hacking. I kind of saw his chess board and asked to play a game before leaving so now during lunch once a week we are expected to show up for a game. Although he would welcome us more often if we ever got bored.
"Oh then are you sure it's okay for me to be here?" He asked his shoulders drooped at the thought of having to go home.
"Of course! Mom was so excited that you liked her pasta salad that she has another cold recipe for you to try. We just don't like them and we can only pretend to want them once in a very, very long time," I made a face at the thought of how the swirling noodles felt in my mouth with the cold sauce and just yuck. I'm sure that I would like it fine if she would just use regular noodles but she refuses.
"Yeah I'm dragging Deku to my place for dinner, I don't care unless someone makes Aunty cry," Kacchan grumbled and sure enough I found out that Auntie was making something extra spicy.
"Mom, is it okay if I go to Auntie's house for dinner?" I called out the moment the door was open. "She is making something really spicy but our friend wouldn't be able to eat it though," I kept going as I took off my shoes, seeing not only All Might's and Mom's shoes but Dabi's as well.
"That's fine Honey, I made a lot of tuna salad today so I hope your friend likes tuna," she giggled as we walked in, Todoroki stopped and greeted each of them politely, even his brother. Yeah I figured he wouldn't recognize him.
For the longest time Dabi just watched Todoroki with us and I saw his eyes narrow a few times when he saw Todoroki either flinched or pulled his long sleeves down, so at least he noticed the obvious signs. There were also a few others that made me rethink abuse because they seemed so simple to me that I didn't really notice but Dabi looked more livid from them than the ones that I did notice.
"Todoroki if you don't like tuna it's really okay, we can go somewhere else for dinner," I whispered like I was being sneaky but it was also loud enough that everyone could hear me.
"The hell you are, you're going to eat Hell's fiery tacos and you're going to like them!" Kacchan put me in a headlock before tickling me, a scene that All Might has become very used to and he just smiled at while watching us, a cup of coffee in one hand and the paper in the other. Talk about dad mode. Mom on the other hand was just giggling at our theatrics.
"Don't let him fool you Young Todoroki, Izuku loves spicy foods," Mom explained quietly so that Kacchan couldn't hear and I don't think he did because he wasn't showing any signs of letting up anytime soon.
"Stop! I'm going to pee!" I laughed hysterically. When he finally had pity on me and let me go I was curled up in his arms still giggling softly, very comfortable on the couch.
"Love birds, you have guests," All Might teased us while reminding us of the fact.
"And?" Kacchan asked and I whacked his shoulder playfully, like he really doesn't know why All Might was bringing it up? I'll believe that never but Kacchan just chuckled in my ear while motioning for Todoroki to join us and watch the news.
"So Todoroki, if you could be anything but a hero when you grow up what would it be?" I asked while the news anchor talked about the weather.
"What?" Todoroki asked confused, I can't believe how shocked he was to hear such a simple question.
"You heard him, what would you want to be if you couldn't be a hero? I think I would be a park ranger or maybe in the military," Kacchan shared and I actually looked at him kind of surprised.
"I hadn't thought of the military, but park ranger suits you," I smiled and giggled when his fingers barely touched my sensitive skin again in a warning. "I think I would have liked to be a teacher, only if quirks weren't a thing though. If quirks were still real then I don't really know." Actually that really stumped me, what would I have been if I wasn't a hero?
"Go figure yours comes with a condition," Kacchan scoffed while smiling at me.
"I probably would have ended up working with Mom if I didn't get my quirk when I did," I let out a sigh, relaxing into Kacchan's arms.
"You wanted to be a lawyer?" Mom's eyes lit up and I laughed a little.
"Not really but I just couldn't see myself being able to become a policeman or firefighter. Working that close with heroes probably would have just hurt me," I shrugged before Kacchan gave me a few tickles to make me giggle and lighten the mood.
I turned back to Todoroki, "So what would you want to be if you weren't a hero?"
"I," he looked so lost. Like the thought really never occurred to him at all.
"Don't stress over it. Just think about it. It helps you relax like a reminder of what you could be doing instead it can even help motivate you sometimes," I smiled at him. The phone rang and Mom was just smiling while she watched us and she smiled even more when she answered the phone. I don't know if that's actually a good thing or not though.
"Izuku, Katsuki, looks like you're staying here for dinner after all. The Bakugo's are bringing everything here," Mom told us after she hung up and I could hear All Might saying that we shouldn't be leaving Todoroki behind anyway and he looked pleased with himself. I rolled my eyes at that though, he probably texted Auntie about us having a guest but that's okay.
"Is this all you guys do when you bring him over?" Dabi asked when I was walking by him and I shrugged a little. "Sometimes he comes to my room and we play games or we'll go to the beach sometimes and get some no quirk training in but yeah. We just hang out," Dabi looked even more confused. "What's wrong?"
"All Might doesn't train you?" He asked slowly, as if he were hesitating.
"He is literally our Heroics teacher at school and Kacchan and I will train in the evenings with him at school twice a week but right now we're not allowed to because it's an unfair advantage before the sports festival," I stopped and chatted for a minute making Kacchan look up when he noticed that I still haven't went and gotten our drinks.
"But-,"
"No, All Might does not beat us like Endeavor did you or Todoroki. We are still working on getting the evidence," I lowered my voice to tell him before standing up straight and getting our drinks. My phone ringing before I could leave the kitchen.
"Hello?" I asked while going back to Kacchan and Todoroki.
"Umm," I heard Shinso say before freezing.
"Do you like tuna salad or spicy tacos?" I asked, already getting a feeling.
"I like tuna salad?" He answered more like a question, not knowing where I was coming from.
"Great, why don't you come over, I have a feeling we have a lot," I looked up and Mom's smile brightened. She loves having a full house, something that never really happened when I was in middle school.
"Is that okay?"
"Mom?" I asked by just lifting my eyebrows at her.
"How many?" She actually looked even more excited than before.
"Is it just you?" I asked him and he agreed. "One."
"Goodness, tell him to hurry, does he need one of us to come get him?" After a while All Might actually went to go get him from his house and it wasn't long before he got here that Aunty and Uncle arrived and we were setting up for dinner.
