Watching the eagle consume the peak third order gecko as though it was a simple light snack, feeling the aura and mana radiating off of it as though he felt like he was near a active volcano, Osiris put even more effort into concealing his presence as he recognized this as a being of the early stage fourth order.
The eagle quickly polished off the remains of the gecko in minutes, before looking around at its surroundings, as though it could feel something was watching it.
Seeing this action, Osiris didn't dare to even make the slightest movement, only looking away from the eagle in case its sixth sense really was astute enough to sense him looking at it, an ability one in the fourth order could possess.
After looking around for a couple moments, the eagle seemed to brush it off, launching miles into the air in seconds with a flap of its humongous wings, its body slowly turning into a speck in the sky and disappearing out of view.
Osiris, vigilant and cautious as ever, decided to wait 10 more minutes even after the eagle had left and his instincts told him he was safe, not even daring to breathe.
10 minutes later, he finally sucked in the oxygen and breathed out in a quiet sigh of relief.
Though he didn't need oxygen all that much as his body absorbed more mana and even began to sustain itself off of mana, reducing his need to eat, sleep, and drink as well.
Though that was for another time, as Osiris sat up on the large tree branch he was on, he began to reflect upon what just happened.
He thought about how his instincts had kicked in well over an hour ago as he thought about entering the clearing well before the gecko or the eagle had shown up.
Reviewing the order of events, Osiris began to think of a possibility that the gecko was in fact there the entire time, deeply hidden by what he could only assume was its bloodline ability it had unearthed after refining its blood and marrow to the peak of the third order and revealing a trace of its its innate bloodline.
Over time as many different types and species interbreed with each other, their bloodlines become more muddled over time, and this leads to descendants losing abilities that those with purer bloodlines would have had at birth.
The only way of unlocking said abilities would be to refine the blood within oneself and remove impure and unwanted parts, though said abilities would always be weaker than ones that had started with a pure bloodline.
And the gecko seemed to have a trace of the assassin gecko bloodline within itself, a medium to low ranked bloodline according to the inheritance, with is main ability being to hide its presence and ambush prey.
Which was the reason he probably couldn't sense its aura at all, even with his peak second order strength that could kill any in the third order, that didn't mean he was omnipotent and could sense everything, especially a beast who specializes in stealth.
Back to his conjecture, Osiris believes the gecko was there the entire time and had managed to spot him, but Osiris instincts kicked in and he chose to retreat.
And after waiting around an hour and seeing that Osiris hadn't returned, the gecko probably assumed that he had left.
Being tempted by the lotus and sensing no danger, the gecko had finally decided to reveal itself and went to retrieve the lotus.
But after it had revealed itself, Osiris assumed that the eagle was already in the area and had quickly sensed its peak third order aura, even if concealed, with its powerful aura and mana sense one gains after entering the fourth order.
Quickly made its way over in a moment or moments, depending on how far away it was, and killed it with a fireball.
Now what interested Osiris was that in his inheritance, there was knowledge about innate instincts and the fact that it could sense immediate danger before something bad could happen after being trained to a high level.
However in Osiris's case, he was not in 'immediate' danger as he could have killed the gecko even if it had ambushed him.
But it would have caught the attention of the eagle which was far away from the aura of the battle, and though his second order strength wouldn't even put it in its eyes, a peak third order would obviously.
And by proxy, since Osiris was already there, the eagle wouldn't mind a free side with its meal, no matter how miniscule.
Mosquito meat was still meat.
And as he thought about it, Osiris began to believe that maybe his instincts weren't just innate but part of his unknown pure bloodline, that gave him instincts that could sense a short span of the future.
Meaning every choice he would make, his instincts would warn him of future repercussions that could injure or kill him.
He grew excited at the possibility of what he could achieve with such a power, however he wouldn't get his hopes up too high yet as he had yet to experiment more with his power, if he had it at all, and what his current limitations are.
Like how far into the future could he sense, a year? An hour? Or just mere minutes?, he had no idea.
But if he truly does have that power, and could train it to become stronger over time like beings would with normal instincts, and could extend the time he could sense.
Then he had no doubt of becoming one of, if not, THE strongest being.
The possibilities are endless.
Finally he decided that the best time to test his powers was now, since he was currently weak enough to be in danger within the fourth ring, and that as he got stronger, he knew he would lose the chance to test this ability since nothing would be able to threaten him at that time.
Then it would require him to go and search out for way more dangerous situations.
Oh what a predicament he is in, afraid that he would become too powerful too fast and that he would lose the chance to research his ability.
"The plight of the gifted indeed".
Osiris spoke with a sarcastic but amused tone.
