The people I've met so far seem to sleep at around 7pm in the evening and wake up somewhere before 6am the next day, that's what I've observed so far among the common folk. It may be a result of their lack of entertainment, however I'm different. I got so engrossed in my item making papers that I ended up staying awake late till midnight.
「I'm in the mood for some late night walks.」
I exited my room as quiet as I can in order to avoid disturbing everyone else who was asleep in the inn.
After a brief stretch, I descended the stairs. As expected, everything was pitch black and I couldn't see a thing. I really wish I made a lantern with my [Creation Magic] beforehand.
While going down, I was startled by a bobbing yellow light at the foot of the stairs. Her face illuminated in the darkness by the lantern she's holding, it was Nalia.
She seems to have heard my footsteps and looked at my direction.
「Wh-Who's there?」
I had the urge to pretend as a ghost and scare the soul out of her but I stopped myself midway of doing it.
「I'm Tsuyoshi, I just want to go outside and go for a walk.」
As I spoke, I descended the stairs so that sooner or later she could see my face.
「Oh, it's the kind mister from yesterday. If you don't mind, may I join you? I was going to do the same.」
She sure trusts someone pretty fast. She had an innocent smile as she looked at me.
「Sure, why not? It's dangerous at night so that'd be for the best.」
Nalia suddenly held my hand as soon as we left the inn building and entered the streets.
The whole place was dark, there was hardly anyone still awake around this area apart from some odd and shady-looking individuals.
The streets were lit by dim, colorful lamp posts. I assumed they also had fireflies inside, I wonder how they keep them alive though.
Nalia kept her arms locked to mine as we continued to explore the nighttime city.
「It's beautiful, isn't it?」
「What is?」
「The night of course. Whenever I bask in it's peaceful embrace, all my worries and problems disappear for a while.」
She had a relieved look on her face. Her pink lips were endearing as they reflected the pink light from the nearest post. I guess she's the night type of person then. Nalia is unexpectedly amusing even though she's just an inn worker. She reminded me that everyone is unique and have their own personalities and likes.
We ended up coming across the city's main attractions; a monument of a human hero at the center of the residential district, a fountain with a statue of a dragon breathing water from it's mouth, the lively amusement park that was active during night and even the forbidden red light district. This felt like we were on a date, she mostly clung to my arms like this as though she was a child afraid of getting lost.
「I'm glad you weren't a bad person, Mister. We only met today so I was thinking you would do something bad to me.」
「Haha.」

As we were on our way to the adventurer's guild simply to pass by, we heard the sound of a woman resonating from an alleyway not too far and decided to come take a look.

The next morning after eating breakfast from the inn, I decided to go to the Adventurer's Guild.
It was a rowdy place full of people dressed in peculiar, but interesting clothing. There's even a shirtless dude here with a baseball bat as a weapon, a girl with full body armor and spear, and an elven man with a rapier hoisted in his waist. They were the most interesting and describable that I saw.
While I was walking, a man sitting with a group of friends gave me a sinister look and tried to trip me with his foot. But due to my strength, his foot got dragged along by mistake instead and he fell from his seat with a thud.
「Ack!」
Hehehe, he did it on purpose so he had it coming.
「Kekeke! You said you'd prank the new guy but you're lying on the ground instead, Keiter.」
A person from the same table as the guy spoke. So they were trying to trip me for fun, too bad I'm too strong to be humiliated so easily.
「Ugh, dammit. You did that on purpose!」
The guy called Keiter shouted at me and got up with raised fists.
「Hmm? Do what?」
「You made me fall!」
「Nope, I was just walking and your foot suddenly got in the way~」
「Liar! You did it on purpose, you went too far embarassing me, bastard!」
Oh. So I was supposed to be humiliated like I just did to him if I slipped and fell face-flat on the floor? Sorry for my short-sightedness then, Mr. Keiter.
Keiter grabbed my shirt and I felt uncomfortable due to having my personal space invaded.
「Please let go of me or else I'll embarrass you further.」

Alright, time to scare him off.

While my chest was being held, Keiter suddenly moaned in pain and let go of me after feeling an abrupt heat from my body.
A large white scale emerged from my chest, then more scales popped up and multiplied starting from there. I felt a weird sensation across my whole body as if it was being jumbled everywhere.
「I-It's a dragonkin! A dragonkin is in the city!」

Once my transformation was done, everyone present here was pointing their weapons at me.
I looked like a two-meter tall muscular guy right now with a dragon knight style full body kind of armor, except this wasn't armor, it's a part of my body. The convex mirror at the guild told that my face had morphed into that of a dragon as well.
So this is how dragons here look like. No, this is just their humanoid form. After transforming into one, I feel like I can transform into my true terrifying, winged disaster form.
My white scales and gauntlet-like hands look so damn cool though. Oh! There's even fire coming out from my back and I got three horns. This is the coolest I've ever looked in my entire life.
「What's your purpose here?! D-d-d-dragon?!?!」
I simply tilted my head a little. Everyone was panicking but they didn't let go of their weapons. They're clearly afraid of my presence.
「I came here to register as an adventurer.」
「Who are you fooling?! Why would a powerful race like a dragon come here just to register as a lowly fodder cleaner called an adventurer?!」
Well done, Keiter. Every adventurer looked at him with scorn and cold stares, almost everyone here were adventurers afterall.
What do I say?
「One dragon is enough to destroy a city... Are we going to get killed?」
「Dammit, now that it's come to this I wish I told my mom and dad that I loved them!」

Beads of sweat formed from my cheek as I heard all their cries. Everyone had tears in their eyes already and accepted their imminent(NOT) deaths.
This can't continue, I need to clear things up! Do they think of dragons so frighteningly? How was I supposed to know dragons here were genociders?!
I made a loud and fake cough, gathering everyone's attention to me. They seem to have accepted their demise so they didn't bother pointing their weapons any longer.
「C-Calm down, everyone! I'm friendly!」
They stopped for a while after hearing my declaration, but then they began crying even louder.
「Waah! He's even mocking us to make us despair even more!」
H-How do I clear things up? I thought if I transformed into a dragonkin, parties will come rushing in to invite me for their cause. But this is the total opposite, isn't it?!
「F-For now, I'll prove I'm harmless! Watch me, I'll register as an adventurer!」
I started to make a move, my first step made everyone flinch and step back.
The receptionist girl was trembling while holding a piece of paper and her face was getting even more close to crying the more I approached.
「Sup.」
I tried to greet her casually, she squeaked like a mouse in response. I think that's her attempting to reply.
「I'd like to register as an adventurer. Mind giving me the guidelines?」
「C-C-C-Certainly!」
She gave me the paper she was holding with trembling hands and tried hard not to make eye contact.
It says on paper that I will have to take a test to determine my starting rank.
「Alright, I'll have to take the test righ—」
Before I could finish, a door got knocked down loudly from behind the receptionist.
「No need for that! If you're a dragon then you're already Orichalcum Rank!」
Eh? I just joined, but I'm already Orichalcum Rank? The second highest rank for an adventurer in human society..?
Eh? Seriously?
Because I didn't speak, the guildmaster looked troubled.
「If that's not enough, then you're Adamantite rank starting from now!」

「Calm down, everyone! If the guildmaster didn't give him a high rank right from the start, there's a possibility he could've gotten mad and destroyed us all.」
「N-Now that you mention it, it makes sense. As expected of the guild leader.」
Is this how they view dragons in this world? Highly destructive and highly temperamental beasts that could easily wipe out human settlements?
They all look so tense waiting for my feedback... I guess I'll just play along.
「Very well. You've done well, human. I'll be accepting that rank then.」
「Y-You flatter me, your greatness. Please wait for a few minutes while we create your identification card.」
The guildmaster bowed to me to show respect. This all feels so wrong, this isn't supposed to happen! It's out of my isekai knowledge!
