Edith's directions guide Spider-Man swiftly through the city, his web-slinging skills propelling him with speed and precision. He's doing less complex swings, but Johnny is on his back, and he's still fire-happy. He's constantly talking to distract him, and it seems to work, as, besides some higher temperature, Johnny is not on fire.
The lights of the city below blur into streaks as he propels themselves forward, the rush of adrenaline sharpening his senses. As they reach the docks, Spider-Man deftly lands on a nearby rooftop to assess the situation below as he puts Johny down. He motions him to be quiet before looking at where he can hear people talking.
Down in the shadows, he spots Daredevil keeping a close watch on a group of criminals carrying suspicious packages. The black-clad vigilante moves with precision and stealth, his confidence evident in every movement. Spider-Man can't help but feel a surge of respect for the masked hero as he observes from above. Johnny gasps softly in amazement, but Peter is quick to over his mouth.
He doesn't know how to make himself known without bringing attention to Daredevil, but he knows that discretion is key. However, when he's about to move close to maybe find another way, the other vigilante himself is the one to tilt his head lightly from where he is tailing another, his neck clear for him to see.
Not knowing why the show of skin distracts him so much, Peter thinks maybe it's because it's a movement that betrays his lack of focus. This is weird because Daredevil is a careful person, one not so easily distracted if nothing else.
He wants to look around to see what distracted him, but instead, he stops thinking because Daredevil is looking right at him.
Moving slightly to the right, he sees him follow his movement, so yeah, he is indeed looking at him. He kind of wants to move to see if Daredevil keeps following with his gaze, but even he knows it's too childish and will probably cause Johnny to laugh. While he has a nice laugh, he doesn't think this is the time.
Instead, he waves, and when the man hooks a finger at him, Peter can't help but go without hesitation, as if being pulled by a wire.
When they're one next to the other, the other vigilante nods in acknowledgment, wordlessly acknowledging their unspoken alliance in this fight against crime. Peter is over the moon at that small acknowledgment, even if it's not the first time they have teamed up. There have been other times when he was found near Hell's Kitchen and asked Edith to tell him about what the other man was doing.
He's so caught up in his thoughts that he realizes a second too late that the people Daredevil was following have finally stopped.
Soon, another group approaches.
They wait for a moment to see if more will come.
Only when Daredevil moves forward does Spider-Man descend to join him in taking down the criminals. Their presence catches the attention of the thugs, who tense up at the sight of the web-slinger and Daredevil, so caught off guard by the sudden appearance of the masked heroes.
"Hey there, fellas! Looks like you're having a little party without inviting your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man," he quips, his voice laced with confidence despite the outnumbering odds. To make it easier for Daredevil (not that he needs it), Peter starts by taking away the guns in their hands, thanks to the well-placed webbing in action.
Soon enough, they've got all the criminals webbed up high on a lamppost.
He looks at his artwork, continuously glancing at Daredevil. He must be really obvious about it, too, because soon Daredevil speaks, "Need something, Spiderman? Also, what the deal with the 'civilian' you've brought."
"Oh, right!" he says, turning around to see if Johnny is still in place. He isn't having jumped from where he left him, now covered in fire as he descends.
"Hey! Can't believe you forgot about me, SPidey!"
"Sorry, sorry! It was not my intention!" He puts his hands up in an attempt to placate him, and it works somehow, though now his glare is set on Daredevil.
"And you are?"
"None of your business," Daredevil is quick to reply, before ignoring him and turning to Peter, clearly awaiting an explanation. He hesitates, not knowing how to explain it now that he's in front of the man.
"If it's nothing important, then-"
"No, wait!" he says, cursing internally at the man because of the pressure he inadvertently put him in. He glances at Johnny, before once again turning to Daredevil. "So, err... I've got some info that I can't give you the sources of, but it can be dangerous if others know about it. Or, well, it's not dangerous, but it can cause panic if it's spread around. Riots can happen if they get out. I cannot highlight how important it is to-"
"You're rambling," Daredevil says, but he wants to think he does so fondly. "Also, if it's that dangerous, why are you telling me?"
"Because I don't want you or your loved ones to be in danger," he says resolutely. He turns to Johnny. "That goes for you, too. I'm telling you so maybe you can convince your sister to remain away from New York. I mean, I want to spread this information, but like I said, it can cause riots and panic. Or just plain disbelief. The government will deny it until it's blue, but in the end, it will happen, and that would cause mistrust towards it. I sincerely don't know what to do. It's a case of damned if I do or don't, and I-"
A hand touches his shoulder, silencing him.
"You're rambling," he says again, softly this time. His hand falls away slowly, making him want to shiver. He can feel JOhnny glaring, but he doesn't care because as the hand moves away, he can feel the seriousness returning to Daredevil's face. "Maybe I can help give you a second opinion. Two heads are better than one."
He nods, takes a deep breath, and starts, "I don't know if you'll believe me because it's pretty incredible to know, but. Er... there's a possibility of analieninvasionhappening."
He says the words quickly before blinking.
Daredevil tilts his head.
Johnny's mouth is open.
He blinks again. Was that too fast?
