"You got to be kidding me, is that true?"
A laughter resonated in the small room as Old Man's co-worker tapped Elijah's shoulder in delight. "Well, it seems that the higher ups are interested to you, don't you think so, Marvin?"
Old Man chuckled as he glance at Elijah who's seated beside Joseph displaying an expressionless face. Marvin have seen that kind of expression so he already knew that the boy isn't satisfied with the information at all.
"The more the attention, the more possibilities that he'll pass."
Elijah scoffed before standing up and decided to sit on the opposite sofa. Joseph glance at Marvin who shook his head at him before turning around and picking up the newspaper on the table.
Joseph returned his attentiom to boy before asking in a sincere tone. "Can you control it now?" The sudden question made Elijah stare at Joseph for a a while.
Noticing the sudden change of the atmosphere, Marvin changed the course of the conversation. "I believe your Son is joining the academy as well?"
"Of course he is! He's knowledgable enough to join there. Aside from that, he can control the wind as well so he'll be fine."
He says that with utmost confidence. Elijah thought as he stare at Joseph. He met his son five years ago and the first meeting is the worst. In fact, Elijah doesn't want to come across that kid again.
"Come to think of it, the Crown Prince is the same age as them. I think he'll be there as well." Joseph added.
Marvin flip the next paper of the newspaper as he add some information. "The Duke's Son is joining as well."
"What? That kid? Does he even need to join even after having a God's blessing already?"
God's blessing? Elijah glanced at Marvin who seems unbothered by what Joseph just blurted out. Instead, Marvin replied with a calm tone, "Even with the God's blessing, having a blessing from a dragon is different."
"Is a Dragon's blessing different from a God's blessing?" Elijah asked. Not out of curiosity but rather to descry. Marvin emphasized, "A God's blessing is divine, in the eyes of the mortals of course it's an abundant blessing. You will have the power and knowledge to rule the world. On the other hand, a Dragon's blessing is supreme, you will have the power and knowledge to acquire the world."
"You can have a dragon as a pet too." Joseph said.
"No. You don't." Marvin scolded. "Dragons are supreme, only the people who have abundant blessings can actually have them. And you have to treat them with kindness, unless you want to burn into flames alive."
The conversation gradually changed as minutes passed by. It was so peaceful that made me rethink of my decision of spending my last day here. My boredom flew away when the door banged open revealing a woman with a grumbled paper in her hand.
Her brows is knitted together as sweat trickled down her forehead.
Joseph was the first one to stand up to greet the lady but was only ignored as she stomped towards Old Man.
"Tell me what is this?"
Marvin swept his gaze at the paper then back at the madame's face. "Madam, I need you to first calm down—"
"How am I supposed to calm down?! That weasle is stealing everything that I have! First my husband, now my house and children!" Marvin forced out a warm smile as he try to calm her one more time. As he sooth her she eventually sat on the comfy sofa as Marvin take the grumbled paper away from her hand.
Joseph pour some water on the cup and offer it to her which she accepted and drunk. Elijah watches the scene in pure delight. Rather than a detective, he believes that she needs a psychariatrist instead.
As if Marvin can hear his thoughts, the Old Man snapped his head at him. Elijah raised an eyebrow at him before standing up then walk towards the desk before picking up the newspaper.
Marvin returned his attention back to the lady. "Madam, we need your utmost patience in your case, we can't just throw words without evidence and this can lead to more problem that it already is."
Her face soften but her eyes was full or worry. "How much long do I have to wait? It's been two weeks and they wouldn't even let me see my children. Aren't I the mother? In what law does it say that a mother is forbidden to see their child?"
"There is no such thing written on the paper. We promise that we will bring back whatever they stole from you." Marvin reassured.
"I'm going crazy if I can't see them. I won't be able to go on for another day without my children." It seems that words wouldn't be enough to reassure her. Marvin tried to think of other way but his mind was a mess trying to think of a certain way to help her immediately.
"Why not steal the children back?" At that suggestion, Marvin landed his gaze at Elijah who's seated on the table while reading the newspaper in hand.
"That's against the law—"
"Are you and your husband already divorced in the paper?"
"No. But—"
"Without an agreement from both parties, each doesn't have the right to get the child. The child is the one who has right to choose who they want to be with, not the parents." Elijah glance up and added, "So, you can steal them back."
The lady covered her mouth as her eyes turned a little watery. "I still have chance to get them back..." Joseph offered her a tissue and water in which she gratefully accepted with a frail smile.
Marvin looked at Joseph who shrug his shoulders with a smile. The Old Man let out a sigh. Now they have another complicated job suggested by a boy. Well, atleast they have a solution now to their unsolved problem.
