As she left to help look after the wounded, those that were healthy enough to get by for now were busy elsewhere. A few assisted others that were to heavily wounded to move, some went to the main building to let the villagers know it was safe, and the majority assisted in tying down the prisoners after stripping them down to their underwear.
The whole process was a bit midevil for her taste, but she figured there were reasons for this. Instead, she crouched next to a village soldier that was clutching his leg. To her, the man looked like a taller Dwarf depicted in her old world.
He was quite muscular, hints of ash and soot were left staining his shirt under the leather chest armor that was hastily thrown on when the battle started. His full beard was as dark as his black hair that seemed to capture the light around it. This was surprising for her, seeing such a deep black. The main difference was how deep black his eyes were. No whites, not even iris' in those abyss-like eyes that glared angrily at her.
"Whatcha want Demon?" The man's voice was as rough as gravel, a hint of fear behind his threatening voice. This only made her sigh.
Seriously, I save you and I get more hostility than the Goblins back there.
She didn't bother replying back, instead grabbing the hem of his shirt and pulling a knife out. Before the man could react, she swiftly cut a strip of the course fabric away and pushed him onto his back.
"Oi, wha-"
"If it's not treated, you'll lose your leg." She interrupted as she lifted the Dwarfs leg up a little. This caused him to shout a bit and grip the dirt and grass on either side. She ignored the man's struggles as she tied the cloth above the wound. It wasn't that bad by her standards, easily treated once the arrowhead that was lodged into his muscles was taken out.
As she made sure it was tight, she had her HUD search for any other injuries that had been inflicted. "You shouldn't bleed out anytime soon, but the arrow head needs to be pulled out. I assume you people have a doctor?"
The Dwarf sat up and looked at his leg with more surprise than she'd thought. He held his thigh where she'd tied the cloth and tilted his head. Eventually, his surprise turned to an amused smirk instead as he looked at her.
"For a Demon, you're quite alright. Figured you'd use a potion or healin spells your kind are known for." The man chuckled as he shook his head. Placing one hand on the ground, he tried to get himself up with a groan.
As Nix stood up, she kicked her foot out to press down on the man's chest and glare down at him. "For starters, I'm no Demon or whatever you guys keep calling me. Secondly, you'll remain here until someone's able to get you up. You move by yourself and you'll dig that arrow deeper into you. I'd rather not see someone's leg get cut off for being stupid."
As she spoke, several village soldiers drew their weapons and pointed them at her. Though her HUD warned her, she simply stared down at the man who glared back up at her. Seeing this, the Chief ran over and placed his hands on two of the soldiers shoulders. "Everyone, that's enough. Nix here is helping us out here, let's not pick a fight with a Demon."
Originally, she'd wanted to leave her face hidden until the prisoners were locked away, but this was to much now. She let out a loud groan and clicked her tongue as she finally snapped. She turned to face the Chief as she reached up to grab her helmet and clicked a button on each side of her neck.
A small hiss could be heard as she undid the lock holding her helmet in place. Her pure white hair draped down her black armor like a rolling snow storm before her helmet finally came off to reveal a fair skinned lady with deep green eyes. As she hadn't seen her own face yet, she was a little confused on the reactions she'd gotten from those around her.
Where most froze in place, the Cheif, as well as Vela who'd come over to see what was going on, swallowed hard at the sight of her. Most would find this flattering, but the sign of danger could be seen on their faces as she glared at them.
"For the last time, I'm not a Demon. I'm Human, flesh and all." She called out to everyone as she slowly turned around with her arms out. As she displayed herself, she slowly realized that the soldiers tightened their grip and edged closer to her.
Okay, maybe being Human was a bad idea?
Before she could ask what was going on, Vela suddenly rushed to her back and turned around. With one hand on the handle of her sword, the other was held up to stop the others. "Everyone wait, she may look like a Dru'Ven, but she clearly said she was...wait, what's a Human?"
This question stunned Nix, causing her to turn around and look at Vela. She was thankful that the others were also confused. As the soldiers finished up tying the prisoners up, they joined the crowd that was quickly forming. It wasn't just the soldiers now, as some of the villagers that weren't lost in grief came over as well to see what was going on.
Seriously, you couldn't even give me a run down on what this world's like Mother Moon?
