Kellen and Rhys continued drinking, well, Rhys continued drinking as the night sky deepened. Rhys wouldn't let Kellen witness him as he reset himself, moving Kellen off of his lap every time he felt the need to do so.
It confused Kellen, since he was sure he could accept from Rhys, but Rhys clearly wanted to keep that to himself. Even if Kellen told him over and over that it was totally okay, Rhys just smiled, patted his uninjured thigh, and disappeared for a few minutes upstairs.
Kellen didn't let that ruin his night though, and even if it was a nagging thought in the back of his mind, the two of them managed to have a good night, spent in each other's company and Kellen woke up the next morning wrapped in Rhys' arms.
It was a small, but welcome new reality.
The alarm blaring didn't even phase him, but the man who had put away enough liquor to feed a whole group of Espers after a gate raid on the front lines wasn't as pleased.
