Sokolov returned to the mansion and strode towards his office, stopping abruptly in front of his office as the door opened and Damien walked out.
"What are you doing here?" Sokolov asked, raising both eyebrows in surprise.
Damien gestured towards a box placed on his table. "I managed to persuade Orlov into selling us the diamond. It was quite expensive, so it's going to affect our finances significantly."
Mr. Sokolov nodded, a rare smile tugging at the corners of his lips. "Well done."
Damien's eyes widened, feeling as if his body had frozen. It was the first time he had ever heard those words from his father. Usually, his father never appreciated anything he did, so this feeling was odd.
He shook his head and noticed a small bloodstain on Sokolov's sleeve. "What happened?" He pointed at the stain. "You have blood on your suit."
