Sergei squinted his eyes, noticing the two men running in the direction Everly had just gone. His instincts, tuned from years of serving as a bodyguard, immediately set off like alarm bells. He walked to the door and paused, watching the men for a few seconds.
Deciding to follow his instincts, Sergei turned back into the restaurant and walked up to a female employee, who had been glancing his way every so often. As he waved at her, she blushed, looking down for a second before meeting his gaze again. She had been secretly admiring him, finding him quite handsome.
She waved back, her voice a bit shaky. "Hi, can I get you anything? Should I get you the menu?"
Sergei shook his head. "No, I'm not here to order anything. I need a favor." His voice was calm but urgent. "I need to step out for a while. Could you look after these shopping bags for me?" He pointed to the table where Everly's bags were stacked.
