For a moment, the room was filled with silence. Mr. Sokolov's eyes bore into hers. As much as he wanted to do something about the way Natalie is speaking to him, he couldn't. Natalie's parents are more powerful than he is, and if he ever laid a hand on her, they would make him regret it.
He looked at his son, lying on the floor, gasping for breath, and then back at Natalie. Finally, he shrugged. "Whatever," he muttered, dismissively waving his hand as he turned towards the door.
Mr. Sokolov's back was to Natalie as he walked toward the door. But Natalie wasn't done. She was still so pissed that she could barely contain her anger, so she continued speaking, her voice rising with each word.
