Although, it was dangerous to send their children to other empires to acquire education, some people still do it but warn their children not to reveal their identity of them being from Dahomey. The children who do not reveal their identity were always safe in the other empires.
"Son,"Eloy called Chris after dinner.
"I'm here dad,"Chris answered.
"Go call your mom, let's have a family discussion,"Eloy said.
"Okay dad,"Chris said and scurried off going to call his mother.
Rose walked into the sitting room with Chris on the lead. She sat down on the chair and carried Chris on her laps.
Eloy cleared his throat and started telling the reason he called both of them. He told them his intentions of sending Chris to school. Chris on his own side was so excited but Rose disagreed with the idea of sending Chris to school in other empires. She pointed out her reasons for not wanting Chris to be a victim in the maltreatment, discrimination of children that go to the schools in other empires. Eloy calmed his wife down by telling her not to worry since he would be hiding Chris identity of being from Dahomey.
After much persuasion, Rose agreed to allow Chris go to school only if his identity is hidden. Chris was so delighted that he jumped for joy. Eloy later told his wife that he had a friend in Oyo empire who was part of the king's council who wanted to sponsor Chris's education. That would mean Chris would be staying with Eloy's friend in Oyo empire.
That night, Chris was so happy that he could not sleep,he could only smile while looking at the Ceiling.
The next day,Eloy contacted his friend. His friend was an influential man as he was one of the king's elders. Mr Bright, Eloy's friend owes Eloy a favor which he hasn't paid back. So,he decided to sponsor Chris to school to repay the favor. He was to come pick Chris in two days timo. During the time before Chris was taken to Oyo,Rose called him the day before he was to be picked up by Mr Bright. Rose had a discussion with him. She advised him to be of his good manners and not to reveal that he was from Dahomey. Chris took the advice and prepared himself for the next day.
The next day, the supposed Mr Bright arrived late noon. He came with two carts. Three horde to one cart. The first cart was occupied by guards while the second was occupied by him, two guards and two ladies of which their identity was not known. He looked to be a respectable man and very wealthy. Eloy and Mr Bright locked in an embrace and laughed out in joy having met again after such a long time.
After some discussion and catching up with time,Mr Bright asked of Chris who came from his room with his bags and luggages. Mr Bright's guards helped in loading the bags and the rest of the day was all fantasy.
