A middle-aged man in his 30s sighed heavily as he leaned against a pillar near the main gate of the Cathedral, positioned close to the stairs leading down and the sides of the building to the left near the shadows.
His eyes were weary and cold.
He was gazing into nothingness.
When his colleagues called him, he wasn't responding to them.
Even as a few of them reprimanded and insulted him with words sharp enough to deepen anyone's wounds, his expression and behavior remained unchanged.
His stoic response caused them to retreat to their previous positions, either shrugging or gritting their teeth in frustration, feeling humiliated themselves instead.
Unaware that the man never cared about them, he was lost in his own mind and thoughts.
His eyes were blind to everyone and everything around him, save for the images swirling endlessly inside his head now that he was free and his mind began to haunt him.
