Chapter 1 - Served

The air in the boardroom was thick with tension as Titus sat at the head of the table, his eyes fixed on the PowerPoint presentation projected onto the screen. Around him, executives whispered in hushed tones, their anticipation palpable. This merger was crucial to the future of his company, and Titus was determined to see it through to success;

Though just as the CEO of the acquiring company was about to finalize the deal, the heavy oak door swung open with a force that reverberated through the room. In walked a somber-faced courier, holding a manila envelope in his hand.

Titus heart plummeted as he recognized the official insignia stamped on the envelope. W.G. Waylon Law Group, his hands trembled slightly as he reached out to accept it.

"Who let you couldn't this wait..." His eyes darting nervously between the courier and the other executives. The courier shook her head still slouched and withered from the daunting labor.

With a sense of dread pooling in the pit of his stomach, Titus scrunched the envelope, then quickly placed it under he's note book. His mouth dry as he nodded to the proceedings of the presentation.

His mind reeled as he struggled to comprehend the implications of what he was holding. Who could have severed him on what basese. All the boardroom members were quiet, and like Titus fidgeting under the board table. Titus took some chewing gum then popped one in his mouth.

"Well Mr. Gluant what are your thoughts?" He minds came to just as the rest of the board turned to him expectingly.

"All is well, I mean it so, so, sounded sounded like a solid plan allow us to talk to our legal firm before proceeding further. Reconvene this meeting tomorrow -" He began as man in white grayed striped suit stood up.

"Now I've been listening to this young man all morning and it seems to me that faster we sign these contract the better off we'll be." With a gut-out put Santa Claus to shame and broad frame a bold in with gray beard interjected.

"This isn't the time Mr. Ulysses." Titus barked stood from he's seat bitting he's lower lip and scrunching the envelope in his left arm. He dashed out, as the boardroom member started mumbling.

"That's what's wrong with with this generation they're just too goddamn emotional." He snapped standing then pressed the intercom in front of him, the other members had all but gone.

Just down on the sixth floor rested one large office with it's on restroom shower and conference room. Titus uncrumpedel the vanilla envelope and slowly opened it at the top he read words that send shivers up his arm and down his neck.

A Summon and Disposition of Marriage

As the realization sank in, Titus felt the eyes of the other executives boring into him, their murmurs growing louder with each passing second. His hands clenched into fists as he fought to maintain his composure, his mind racing with the implications of what this would mean for the merger negotiations.

But amidst the chaos swirling around him, one thing became abundantly clear: his personal life was about to collide with his professional ambitions in a way he never could have imagined.

With a steely resolve, Titus pushed aside the divorce papers and turned back to the CEO, his jaw set in determination. Despite the turmoil raging within him, he knew that now, more than ever, he needed to focus on sealing the deal.
