The early morning sun peeked through the curtains, gently rousing Rayleigh and Isabelle from their peaceful slumber. As they began to stir, the sound of the doorbell echoed through their cozy apartment. Rayleigh is the one who wakes up first; Isabelle pushes her to open the door, and Rayleigh walks groggily to open the door.
"Aren't the moving company supposed to be here at eleven?" Rayleigh's mother's voice rang out the moment Rayleigh opened the door.
"Mom," Rayleigh greeted, her eyes widening as she realized there was someone else standing behind her mother. "Oh, Mae!" she exclaimed, quickly offering a respectful greeting.
Isabelle had taught Rayleigh how to properly address her elders in the Thai tradition, and Rayleigh was determined to make a good impression. Shaking off the last vestiges of sleep, she ushered the two older women into the apartment.
