Lucia noted that her aunt was nowhere to be seen when her parents made an appearance in the ballroom. It was not an active observation. She was not looking out for the woman… Okay, maybe that's a little fib but she was also enjoying the night. She let Michael twirl her around the dance floor and forgot for a moment that the room was full of people and at least half of them were looking her way.
Being in Michael's arms had that effect on her. She forgot the world around her. It was like she was sixteen all over again. Completely in awe but now she had none of the fear. Basking in the glow of being loved. When the dance was over, the couple found themselves standing with what was familiar. Family.
Lucia's siblings and their partners stood together. Lucia had her arm looped through Michael's and she looked around the room to see that over half their guests had left and the rest were making their way out too or having a last sip of the expensive wine.
