The door opened, and something flashed in his eyes as they connected with those of his bride. She smiled at him nervously. What else was she supposed to do? Stay solemn as if they were at a funeral?
A smile put light in his eyes and slightly pulled the corners of his lips towards his cheeks. He offered his hand to her, and she laid her hand in his, letting him help her out of the car. For some reason, she could not stop looking at him.
This handsome man. Her future husband. The King of Myria. She watched him look behind her, and she realised where she was and who else she was with. Her mother. She stood aside and watched as Gustav offered his hand to her mother, who was smiling politely at him.
She took a breath to compose herself. While doing so, her eyes scanned the area around them. She saw the guards and the open door behind them. She saw the crowd and the cameras.
"I hope you had a good flight," Gustav said, and she focused on him.
