The building burst into applause as the curtains fell. Lucia had a big smile on her face. Michael was smiling too. Now that the last act was over, they could finally go home. But Lucia did not want the night to be over.
Michael got to his feet and said to her, "I think I want you all to myself for the rest of the night."
She would want that too. She wanted to make the most of the time she had with him because she was going to be in Rhodes for a while. Sure, she would try to fly back as soon as possible, but Adela's wedding was coming up, and she was going to have a small window of contact with him before she would be buried in wedding froufrou.
She took the tail of her skirt and purse, both of which had sat on her lap for the night, and stood up. Michael offered her his arm.
"Shall we?" he said, gesturing to the door.
She smiled. "Certainly."
