Adela had a big smile on her face as her sisters walked out of the changing room and looked at themselves. There was satisfaction in her from how she had dealt with Lady Klara Vogel. She relished the fear in the other woman's eyes when Adela had asked her sisters to leave the room so that they could have a word.
Klara had been protesting about having to pay for the dresses she'd ordered. The fact that she had thought the crown would pay for her arrogance was hilarious. It still made Adela snort. What level of delusion was that?
Adela had had enough of playing around with the other woman and had gone for the jugular.
"Your father is just a scientist knighted for his good work in the medical field," Adela had reminded Klara. "What would happen to him if people thought that title was going to your head?"
"That's an unfair accusation," Lady Klara had responded. "My father has nothing to do with my actions."
