Josephine and her husband walked into the room, and the people bowed. All except the visiting kings, who simply nodded their heads in respect. They moved further into the room and were immediately surrounded by people eager to talk to them. Josephine felt content on her husband's arm, basking in the attention.
Her smile widened as she spotted her best friend, Queen Miriam. The woman stayed where she was, raising her flute in a silent toast. Josephine nodded subtly in response, and the queen smiled before turning to listen to what her husband was saying.
Adela noted the exchange and wondered why Queen Miriam had not warned her mother about Aunt Edina. Perhaps she hadn't seen her? A light touch on Adela's arm pulled her back to the present. Gustav was beside her, and they were engaged in a conversation with the Minister of Home Affairs. The man was enthusiastically discussing… what was he talking about?
