Chereads / THE OTHERWORLD: LEGEND OF THE UNDYING RACE / Chapter 15 - All the way north

Chapter 15 - All the way north

By the creek in the forest, a Troll Wolf Cavalry was fetching water.

Around him, four companions were on guard.

Anyone with extensive experience in wilderness survival knows the importance of water, but precisely because it is so important, it has become a natural trap.

A wolf cavalryman finished fetching water and signaled to his companions to take turns.

At this moment, he suddenly smelled a hint of uneasiness and immediately drew out the scimitar from his waist.

The other four wolf cavalry were also startled by their companions' movements and instantly began to look around nervously.

However, nothing happened.

There was silence in the forest, except for the gentle rustling of the treetops by the breeze.

The wolf cavalry did not relax their vigilance, but instead became more nervous.

Because it's too quiet!

"Whoosh!"

"Whoosh!"

"Whoosh!"

The sound of whizzing arrows suddenly broke the suffocating silence.

Then came two screams.

The remaining three trolls had no time to check whether the two companions who were hit by arrows were dead or alive. They quickly turned over and climbed onto the direwolf, turned around and ran away.

"Chase!"

Knight Bliss shouted and rushed out first.

Behind him, hundreds of human cavalry rode out.

The peaceful morning was completely broken, and the bloody prelude to killing began again.

Generally speaking, direwolves are better than war horses in sprinting over short distances, but their endurance is relatively poor when running over long distances.

Therefore, after the three troll wolf cavalry rushed out for a certain distance, not only did they not shake off their tails behind them, but they were chased closer and closer.

Moreover, after closing the distance, human arrows struck again.

After a while, two more wolf riders were killed by arrows.

When the last remaining wolf rider saw this, he stabbed his knife into the butt of the direwolf beneath him with red eyes.

"Ouch!!!"

Feeling the pain, the direwolf suddenly accelerated and put some distance between itself and the pursuers behind it.

However, the acceleration buff obtained by self-mutilation like this did not last long.

The direwolf lost too much blood and gradually lost strength. In the end, he was caught up by the human cavalry, shot with an arrow, and rolled to the ground.

The troll rolled on the ground several times, then got up in a panic, and even wanted to continue running forward.

"Chi!"

Bliss chased after him and cut off the troll's head with a knife.

Before he could take a breath, there was a commotion in the woods ahead, and then more Troll Wolf Cavalry jumped out!

Still a step too slow!

Bliss sighed secretly, knowing that he was still not fast enough to deal with these troll sentries and attracted more enemies.

"Line up!"

After visually measuring the distance of the wolf cavalry on the opposite side, Bliss knew that this battle was inevitable, so he shouted an order.

"go ahead!"

The human cavalry who had just rushed for a while took a breath, and then pulled down their visors again at Bliss's order and prepared to face the enemy.

"accelerate!"

Fortunately, the number of incoming wolf cavalry was not too large and they could fight.

"charge!"

As the distance shortened, both sides entered the sprint phase almost at the same time.

There was no concession, no dodge, and no mercy.

When we meet on a narrow road, the brave wins!

"kill!"

"kill!"

"Ahhhhh——"

"Bang!!!!"

Amidst the huge impact, blood and broken bones flew everywhere.

Bloody, brutal, and tragic.

Life becomes a sacrifice, and blood is an embellishment.

The peaceful jungle instantly turned into a terrifying altar.

After a fierce battle, humans finally gained the upper hand.

This cavalry team of the Saint Hilde family is indeed elite.

Moreover, Colin's guess was correct. Looking back to the north, the trolls did not deploy heavy troops.

Obviously, the other party did not expect that this group of human deserters would dare to return to the direction of the main battlefield.

"Chase!"

Seeing that the remaining dozen trolls wanted to run away, Bliss immediately ordered a chase.

We can't let these guys run away, otherwise they will definitely attract more pursuers.

At this moment, a ball of blue light suddenly bloomed in the forest.

In the direction in which the trolls were retreating, it was as if the season had suddenly changed. A layer of frost covered the ground and treetops at a speed visible to the naked eye, and then instantly enveloped the direwolves, making it difficult for them to move.

"It's magic!"

The leader of the wolf cavalry screamed, with a look of despair in his eyes.

Yes, the female mage hiding behind finally finished her chant, and a third-level spell [Frost Nova] was thrown out just right, slowing down the wolf cavalry's escape.

"Kill them all!"

Bliss took the opportunity and led his army to rush forward, killing the trolls one by one who seemed to have been pressed on the slow-down button.

Colin rushed to the leader of the wolf cavalry and cut off the opponent's right hand holding the weapon with one knife, but did not kill him with another knife.

"Let me see if I can get some information." Colin dragged the half-dead Wolf Cavalry leader and shouted to Bliss.

"Okay. But you'd better hurry up, we can't stay here for long." Bliss nodded, and then shouted an order to his men, "Hurry up, hurry up! I'll give you ten minutes to clean the battlefield!"

"yes!"

"Master Colin, do you need help?" Knight Raymond came over.

"No, I can do it myself." Colin rejected Raymond's kindness and dragged the wolf cavalry leader behind a big tree alone, and asked, "Tell me, are there any other troll armies nearby?"

"Pooh!"

The leader of the wolf cavalry spat out bloody spit and angrily yelled, "I won't tell you until I die!"

Colin tilted his head, nimbly dodged the saliva, then pulled out the dagger and cut the other person's throat neatly: "Okay, then you can die."

"Ho...ho..." The leader of the wolf cavalry widened his eyes, as if asking - why don't you play your cards according to the routine!

When the other party died completely, Colin raised his head and looked around. When he saw that no one was paying attention to him, he quietly took out the water bag.

"Gudu... Gudu..."

That's right, Colin's real purpose was not to interrogate.

He had noticed in previous battles that the leader of the wolf cavalry was a warrior.

Similar to human knights, warriors are a unique profession of the trolls. They serve the god of war and therefore have the potential to be promoted to the holy realm.

After discovering that the blood of warriors had no special effects, Colin felt that he should try whether the blood of troll warriors could help him improve his strength like human knights.

Moreover, the strength of the wolf cavalry leader should be between the second and third levels, higher than Colin's current level.

Therefore, if the samurai's blood really has an effect, he should know it soon...

Ten minutes passed by in a flash, and Colin hid the filled water bag close to his body and returned to the team.

The battlefield had been cleared, all the trolls and their mounts had been killed, and their bodies were spread haphazardly among the trees.

The war dead on the human side were hastily buried.

After this battle, the number of the escape team was less than one hundred.

Colin roughly counted, and there were only seventy or eighty people left.

With a sigh, Colin got on his horse and prepared to set off.

At this moment, Bliss led the female mage's horse to Colin's side.

"Knight Colin."

"Ma'am, what are your orders?"

The female mage lowered her head slightly, seeming to avoid Colin's gaze, and there was a hint of shyness in her words:

"Excuse me, can I ride on the same horse as you...?"
