Jake looked at his wife who was eagerly waiting for his explanation. How would he tell her that Asher was the son of a mafia leader? Jake was concerned that if she knew, she would know just how dangerous Asher was and the magnitude of danger she had been in.
"Jake, you've been zoned out, aren't you going to say anything?" Selene inquired, feeling impatient.
Jake looked at her, his eyes filled with concern. "I don't think you're ready to hear this Selene, how about you let me take care of everything," Jake tried to manipulate her but knowing Selene well, she would not back out no matter what.
Selene narrowed her eyes in suspicion at his statement. Whatever he was trying to evade explaining must have been dangerous, from the concern displayed on his face.
"No Jake, I want to know exactly what's going on," Selene insisted, refusing to back out.
