Chapter 114 - Morning Encounter

While thinking about his visit, Zara calmly said, "Brother, since I'm here, I can handle that for you. There's no need for you to make the trip. Besides, I won't have anything to do until the work I came for is ready to start. Just let me know, and I'll take care of it. No need to worry."

"Absolutely not! I can't let you do that. Remember, I never agreed to let you work. I only went along with it because everyone else was okay with it and you promised not to stress yourself. Now you want to take over my responsibilities? That's not fair, Lia," Jack replied, his tone neither harsh nor cold.

Yet, there was a hint of helpless frustration in his voice.

Zara realized that she wouldn't be able to win this argument with her brother.

She raised her voice slightly, sounding a bit upset, and said, "Brother! Are you saying that you won't let me help you just because I've started working? So, you really don't want to consider your sister when you need assistance, is that it?"

Hearing the tension in her voice, Jack felt a bit uneasy and sat up straighter in his chair.

Even the employees at the Adam main branch who witnessed their boss in this state might wonder if someone higher up was reprimanding him, causing him to behave this way.

In their family, no one could simply brush off Zara's anger; she was their little princess, and her feelings always took precedence.

Even if what she mentioned wasn't true, which happened very rarely, she would be able to grasp it if someone helped her understand.

Among the entire Adam family, Jack was the one who spoiled Zara the most, making him incredibly protective of her. This meant that Zara couldn't be upset or angry, even for a moment; if she was, he would be the one throwing a fit throughout the mansion.

However, upon hearing his sister's frustrated voice, especially because of him, Jack couldn't handle it any longer and conceded, saying, "Okay, okay, I'm sorry, Lia. I truly am. My Lia shouldn't be upset. Who would even think of telling Lia that she can't be part of the Adam family's affairs? You can get involved however you like. No one will dare to say anything to you, Lia."

Zara felt guilty for her behavior towards her third brother after hearing his calming and somewhat reproachful tone.

There's nothing more she can do.

If she had let him visit Clover Hill, he would have definitely noticed the bandage on her neck and created a scene about it.

She chided herself a bit more and, as if regaining her composure, said, "Okay, it's decided. I'll handle it, and brother, please send me the details about the land and the people living there."

Seeing his sister calm down, Jack let out a sigh of relief as he leaned back in his chair.

"Alright, alright. I'll follow your lead. I'll send you the information, and I'll arrange for the Clover Hill team to come see you. Just let me know where you're staying, and I'll have our people meet you there." Jack knew he couldn't win an argument with his sister.

However, that didn't mean he would let her go alone to manage everything.

He would certainly take care of all the arrangements and let his sister enjoy the experience instead of putting her through the stress of work.

"It's all good, brother. Just tell them to head straight to the site, and I'll meet them there." Zara preferred not to have people roaming back and forth since it would be easier for her to go directly.

"Sure thing! I'll have them reach out to you so you can stay in touch. And remember, if you need any assistance with your work, feel free to use our branch office there. It's no trouble at all." Jack reminded her once more that their family's branch was available for her use.

"Got it, brother. I'll keep you posted once everything is sorted out."

"I believe in you. Just don't put too much pressure on yourself, alright?"

"Okay, I've got to run. Bye!" Zara reassured her brother and began jogging when a red sports car suddenly screeched to a halt in front of her, catching her off guard.

She took a moment to steady herself, then fixed a frosty gaze on the car blocking her way.

As she observed, the window slid down, revealing a young man in his twenties with messy hair and an unmistakable air of arrogance. He lounged against the car, sunglasses resting casually on his nose.

"Good morning, sweetheart," he called out, his tone dripping with confidence, which only made Zara scowl at him.

Looking around, Zara noticed the area was deserted despite the nearby villas.

With an icy demeanor, she jogged forward, deliberately ignoring the man's piercing stare as she maneuvered around the car where there was enough room.

Noticing her disregard, the man exited his vehicle and jogged alongside her, dressed head to toe in designer attire.

A cheerful voice called out, "Hey there! You look like you're new around here. I guess you haven't heard of me yet, since you're ignoring me," the man said, jogging alongside her with a playful grin.

Zara didn't break her stride or pay him any mind, continuing her run without a second glance.

Noticing her complete lack of interest, he found it entertaining and pressed on, "Allow me to introduce myself. I'm Lucas Reed. Usually, people don't just breeze by me like I'm a ghost, especially when I'm chatting."

Zara's patience was wearing thin as he interrupted her morning exercise.

Finally fed up, she halted and turned to face him.

"Are you finished?" Zara inquired, her tone icy and detached.

Lucas was both amused and taken aback by her reaction, even after recognizing who he was.

He chuckled softly, as a realization dawned on him. "You really don't need to pretend you don't know me to catch my eye. You've already caught it, gorgeous. So, how about we skip the charade?"

Zara felt foolish standing there in front of him.

She reined in her intense energy, resisting the urge to overpower him, and chose to disregard his comments as she made her way toward the villa.
