Chapter 72 - The New Found Connection

As Zara scrolled through the emails, she came across the information regarding Jarvis Hatt and a separate file outlining the upcoming auction.

Zara grabbed the glass of water sitting on the table and took a sip before delving into the file.

The details about Jarvis Hatt seemed straightforward, but her curiosity was piqued when she noticed the connection between him and Smith Industries.

The reason she distanced herself from her parents stemmed from Lan Smith, the former head of the Smith family.

Zara felt uneasy about the connection and decided to seek Zocis' help in uncovering the truth behind the Smith family's involvement eleven years ago.

Zara was determined to investigate further, especially since it concerned her own family. She wanted to ensure that her family was safe and free from any potential issues.

She messaged Zoics, [Investigate the link between this individual and the Smith family from eleven years ago. Ensure no details are overlooked regarding their connection, whether it be personal or business-related.]

[What, do you think this person is related to the accident that happened to you? No way! right?]

Zoics was taken aback by Zara's statement, but she remained determined to follow through with her friend's request.

[Uncertain at the moment. However, I cannot dismiss the potential connections.]

[Understood. I will update you once I have more details.] With that, Zara concluded the conversation and shut her laptop.

She rose from her seat and made her way to the balcony. Gazing at the night sky with the moon and stars had become a nightly habit for her. The serene view always helped calm her mind before bedtime.

Zara glanced at her phone as it vibrated on the balcony. It was a message from Ethan that read, [I have reached home.]

Zara furrowed her brow in confusion and replied, [?]

[I'm letting my fiancée know that I'm home.]

Zara rolled her eyes in frustration and closed her phone, gazing out at the view from the balcony.

In the study at Color Mansion, Ethan chuckled when he saw there was no response to his message, knowing Zara must be annoyed by it.

He sent his good night message and shut down the chat.

After closing the chat, his expression changed from a smile to a serious look.

Looking at David, who was standing in front of him, he said in a cold tone, "Call Sirius to return." "Got it, Boss."

With that, David left Ethan alone in the study.

Ethan opened the drawer on his study table, took out a photo, and held it in his hands as he looked at it.

His eyes filled with warm emotion as he whispered, "I promise to keep you safe." while gently touching the photo.

In a few minutes, there was a knock on the door.

"Enter," Ethan replied, placing the photo on the study table and adopting a stern expression.

David entered and informed, "Boss, he's returning tomorrow."

 "Boss, we've located the individual."

"Where is he?" Ethan inquired, his voice devoid of warmth, without looking up.

"We got the information that he'll visit an auction on Sunday," David explained the situation to Ethan.

"I don't want to miss him this time. Otherwise.." Ethan said as he looked up at David.

David gulped seeing his boss's cold look and nodded. "You can leave."

"Thank you, sir," David replied before hastily exiting the room, afraid of facing his boss's wrath.

....

The following morning, Zara was awakened by the sound of her mobile phone ringing. Still groggy from sleep, she picked up the call without checking the caller ID.

"Hello...." Zara greeted, hearing a familiar voice respond, "Good morning, Zara."

Recognizing the calm voice, Zara sat up in bed and inquired, "What's is it?"

Ethan, on the other end of the line, chuckled at her directness and replied, "Just wanted to give my fiancée a wake-up call."

Zara pondered upon his words, wondering, "How did he figure out when I'll wake up?"

Ethan, perceiving Zara's silence, remarked, "I can learn about you if I choose to."

Zara was unsure how to respond to his assurance. Ethan then inquired, "What are your plans for today?"

After a brief pause, Zara replied, "Nothing much."

Indeed, Zara was at a loss for what to do that day. Having finished all her tasks upon returning the previous day, she had no plans for the present day.

"Then get ready. We'll go outside."

"Don't you have any work to do?" "Today I'm so free. I don't have anything. Don't worry." Ethan said as a matter of fact.

If David heard what he said, he would burst out crying and say that today his boss's schedule was full and he even needed to sign a lot of files to get the work started in some places.

"Get ready and I'll be there at nine." "Mmmm." Saying that Zara disconnected the call and got up from the bed for her morning routine.

As she went down, she saw her fourth brother Noah coming down the stairs.

Noah's usually cold expression softened into a smile as he laid eyes on Zara. He descended the stairs, took in her outfit, and greeted her with a "Good Morning, Lia."

"Good Morning, Fourth Brother," Zara replied. "You're going for a jog, right?" Noah inquired, standing in front of her.

Zara simply nodded. "Let me join you." "Ok."

With that settled, they both left the mansion for their morning exercise.

By eight, the entire family had gathered in the living room.

As everyone settled onto the couch, Jack glanced over at Olivia, who was seated in the side, and asked, "Olivia, why are you looking so haggard? Did you not sleep well last night?"

Jack didn't lower his voice when he said this, so everyone turned to Olivia after hearing Jack's remark.

Hendry looking at Olivia, asked, "Is everything alright, Olivia? If you don't feel well, tell me."

Feeling comforted by the concern shown by Hendry and Jack, Olivia couldn't help but smile. However, with everyone's eyes on her, including Noah's, she couldn't shake the feeling that someone might figure out what happened yesterday.

So, she hurried and said with a calm face with a smile on her, "It's nothing, Brother. I stayed up last night to study. Nothing else."
