When the woman selling the fish saw me, she quickly started to bow and I quickly signaled for her to act like she didn't see me.
The woman took a sharp knife and stabbed the fish to pull it out to package it for Ava but in shock, Ava pulled back so that the fish water wouldn't splash on her.
She bumped into me and I unconsciously held her waist so that she wouldn't fall, her ass bounced on my thighs and I could feel how soft it was. 'Damn, I must be crazy to actually like the feeling' I had to remind myself how uncool it was to be thinking of her in such a way, if my exes knew this, they will probably laugh at me.
"Oh my gosh, I'm sorry." She turned, then in a few seconds, she noticed that it was her alpha and bowed immediately.
"It's okay." I acted unaffected and walked to the next shop, bought a few things that I had no use for, and left the market.
I took a run in the woods to clear my head as usual, an hour later I took a turn and went back home. I heard Mason with a girl who I guessed was Alessia, my beta's daughter, the spoilt brat who was arrogant even to her parents and acted like a sweet innocent charm around me, I could tell it was pretentious. That reminds me, she was Ava's age mate. "Mason?" I called to them but seems like their conversation was too intense that they didn't hear me come in.
"It's not my fault you rejected her or you were caught cheating on her with me," Alessia said.
They were talking about the girl that Mason had told me that he wanted to marry, I still didn't know her and he probably forgot to tell me her name. From their conversation, I could guess that he and the said girl had broken up. I'll probably ask him later what really went on between them.
"Don't get too excited, I only did it because the girl was not going to allow me to sleep with her before our marriage and I was sex-starved, you were willing and that was all."
Alessia slapped him after his last word.
'Young people these days' I shook my head and turned in the opposite direction.
"I might not be a virgin like Ava but don't you ever imply that I'm a sl.ut," Alessia said and walked out the door.
I stopped in my tracks, wondering if I heard right. 'Ava? No it can't be.'
I ignored Alessia's words and went up to my room. Deep down I knew I heard right but I told myself that there should be another Ava out there that my son had dated, it couldn't be the one the moon goddess wanted me to mate with. "That won't make any sense." I laughed dryly as I showered, letting the water wash off the irritation I kept feeling after hearing that conversation downstairs.
The next day, I continued my stalking and ended up at a drinking place close to the fields for training. I watched Ava beat up a few warriors, giving them lessons and winning duals. After she was done she walked over to the drinking place with her friend whom I recognized as Marina, her dad was one of the best warriors in the pack but now he's old and retired.
"We should get drunk tonight! it's been ages." One of the warriors said and they all hailed, Ava and Marina were the only girls there and I had no doubt that they could take care of themselves but I wanted to see more.
They had their fun drinking and playing games while I just sat watching, sometimes I chuckled, sometimes I laughed out, they were a funny bunch but I made sure no one noticed me.
I walked behind Ava as she went home with Marina.
"I'm crushing so hard on someone," Ava whined, I feared it was going to be Mason.
"Wow, I could guess. Our alpha right, I told you, he is every girl's crush."
I wanted to laugh but I held myself, walking behind two drunk girls was not one of my to-do's but here I was enjoying the acts.
"I saw him at the market yesterday and I bumped into him, he held my waist and we were so close to each other and that is the best thing that had ever happened to me." She said, demonstrating how I had held her but her drunken self could not articulate it well
"I can imagine how safe his hands would have felt." Her friend said which made me chuckle as quietly as I could. I wanted to howl into the sky but I held myself.
"I wish it could happen again," Ava said and tripped on a rock, flailing her arms about to fall. I don't know what came over me but I was pushed to fulfill that wish.
I walked up to them and held her from falling once again. The look on her face was evident that she didn't believe what she was seeing.
