Chapter 14 - Exposed

Sometime in the past

"Miss Makima… could you explain how we managed to lose cutting-edge military jets from 3 different bases to a mere teenager?" - Takahashi questioned the primordial fear in front of him, his hands clasped together covering the lower part of his face.

"The same way he escaped from me, sir. I already told you the anomaly has some strange spatial power."

"So basically what you're saying is that he can invade us whenever it wants, using a space-time ability whose limitations and uses are unknown?!" - Okamiwa questioned with his usual bad temper.

"Exactly. At this moment, it's likely that he's not even in the country anymore."

"What if he attacks us?! What if it's not alone?!" - The most restless of the three, Hayato, asked while scratching his neck. Honestly, everyone there wondered how he had risen so high in politics.

The question was simply ignored, which made the man even more restless with his conspiracy theories.

"We must keep his existence a secret. If he fled, he will return at some point, no matter the reason. Possibly seeking revenge." - Takahashi said, still in his serious pose. - "Besides, this boy could be very useful to us Devil Hunters, in this case, his corpse. What we could discover is unimaginable."

"I disagree! We should show the world it exists, they will think we're exaggerating, but once he is discovered, he'll start causing problems in other nations!" - Hayato said, with his usual restlessness.

"Show the world it exists?! Do you have shit for brains?! If other nations find out about him, they will try to create some kind of alliance. With that, the secrets he probably holds will pass to the allied nation with it." - Renji Okamiwa lost his temper again.

"We don't need to say what it is, just put him as an international wanted person. The reason could even be tax evasion, whatever! If they try to arrest him, he either escapes or destroys, tarnishing the reputation of the country which could have small economic problems because of it!" - The most restless one concluded his thought.

Takahashi, who had been silent until now, asked a question.

"What do you think, Miss Makima?"

"Both approaches are good, but with the international police on his trail, he will become increasingly cornered. At some point, he will feel coerced to try to eliminate the obstacle that caused all this, me, and then I will kill him. However, if we just leave it be, he could come and go from Japan without even being noticed."

For the first time, Takahashi showed some emotion, a stupidly macabre smile with several sharp teeth.

"It's simply perfect!" - he responded, his voice now altered and wilder.

Scene Cut

"It's a good plan, but not knowing my abilities makes it simply stupid." - Denji said while looking at his face in a newspaper.

He had received the newspaper at the door today; fortunately, they just threw it in his face without even looking, in other words, the mailman being rude helped a lot.

"Hey Denji, what's up?" - Kobeni asked, seeing him standing at the door.

"Nothing much… just Japan putting me on a little list, now I'm officially a hunted man." - Denji said, showing the newspaper to the older one. - "But honestly, I'm not worried about it. Not out of arrogance, but for another reason." - The young man sat on the couch and put his arms behind his head.

"Let me guess, you're somehow going to change your face?"

"Correct! Something new, using a technique called Henge [literally transformation in Japanese]." - He said and immediately made a hand sign.

A dust of smoke formed around him, and when it disappeared, Denji was replaced by The Rock.

He looked at Kobeni and raised an eyebrow.

"What do you think?" - Denji asked.

"Impressive, but is this like an illusion or can you touch it?"

"You can touch it, it's like a layer of energy over your real appearance, and it overlays, making you acquire the desired appearance… simple to understand." - Denji then transformed back, returning to his original state.

"I think I understand… Just don't use it to do something stupid and blame it on someone else." - What Kobeni had no idea was that a little devil had heard and stored the suggestion in her mind.

"Don't worry about that." - Denji said, putting his hands in his pants pockets. - "Well, today I'm leaving home later. I have some ideas and plans to organize."

"All right."

"Hey, pug face. I was thinking, what was your life like before?" - Breakfast was going to have a slightly strange tone if they stayed silent, so the brat started a conversation.

Denji froze for a moment but soon responded with a smile.

"I was a nerd for things no one cared about, and also a privileged rich kid… no attention from my father… with my mother dead… obsessed with the gym… and…" - A sad look crossed his face. - "A man who just wanted some purpose."

"Oh… Sorry." - Finally showing a bit of humanity, Shizune felt bad for what she had unintentionally caused.

"Hm… Denji, what are you going to do?" - The older one tried to change the subject.

Denji recomposed himself a bit and then asked, still somewhat detached.

"About what?"

"You said you would stay later organizing yourself, what do you want to do?"

"Oh, I'm going to Kamui. I want to explore the place more first and also organize spaces there. Let's say I'm going to… level up the training." - He said with a slight smile.

"But aren't there just squares there?" - Shizune asked.

"Yes, but still, it's a place undetectable to any government. Having an extra base there is certainly the perfect way to operate, especially considering one of my main projects… having a team. And every team needs a HQ, which certainly isn't right in our house." - Denji said all this while raising a finger and putting on glasses, besides making an annoying nerd voice. - "Got it?"

"If I had to understand with that monstrosity you did, I'd rather remain ignorant." - The little one said with a neutral, almost irritated face.

"You just don't know how to play along. Oh, this generation that didn't grow up with Classic Ben 10… oh wait, we're in '97." - He self-corrected at the end.

Timeskip

Inside the Kamui dimension, Denji stretched while six clones separated into groups of three to better understand the geography of the place. While one group explored, the other stayed with Denji to discuss ideas. Kamui was his trump card, his secret weapon, so what better way to use it than to know it in-depth, right?

After a stretching session, he began an Airjitzu session, using a new way he learned to generate vortices.

Spinning quickly while sliding, he focused the vortex on his two feet, thus creating two Airjitzu bubbles.

And to complete, he used the same trick he used against the Carnivorous Plant Demon, thus turning the two spheres into cutting bubbles.

Denji wasted no time and kicked one of the bubbles, trying to send it towards a wall, but… it dissolved midway.

"Tch…" - Denji clicked his tongue in displeasure, while dissipating the other bubble in his foot.

"We need something to keep it stable in the air, so it won't dissipate mid-way." - Clone 1 said while putting his hand on his chin.

"Yes, but maybe the problem isn't just stability. Maybe it's losing strength during the journey and that's what makes it dissipate?" - Asked Clone 2.

"Or then it loses centrifugal force, because Airjitzu wasn't made for combat." - Clone 3, who was lying on the ground, said.

"But we've already seen it can be used, it needs a way to concen-... That's it! Try to make an Airjitzu ball inside another, but the inner one is compressed. If it stays whole, success, and even if it explodes, it's still success." - Clone 1 suggested.

Denji nodded and did what was asked. Quickly spinning, he created an Airjitzu bubble in his left foot, but put a second bubble around it and compressed the first one.

He launched the bubble with a kick, and a small hole appeared in the cube that the bubble hit. Having traveled a great distance, the outer ball disappeared in mid-air, but the inner one survived long enough to hit.

"That's it!" - All four Denjis said at the same time, a tone of excitement in their voices.

"Okay, one problem down, just need to train to make it better and done. Time to get more ideas for the next problem, we need more offensive skills, which reminds me…" - At that moment, he tried to create the Ninjago Dojo skill he had thought of a few chapters back.

To summarize for you, it would be both a mental dojo and could be brought to reality as a hologram that has mass. The dojo could recreate Ninjago characters and villains to fight against.

With the skill already created, he tried to place it in the dimension they were in, appearing as a structure similar to a traditional Japanese house with sliding doors and a statue of an old man's bust with a long beard, along with a traditional Asian hat.

"Oh, the dojo! We had forgotten about that. Well, how many skills are left?" - One of the clones asked.

"I think 4?" - The original responded.

"Actually, it's 9." - said Clone 2.

"We only have access to 8!" - Clone 3 shouted comically, angrily.

"Regardless, brother." - Clone 2 responded.

Denji sighed heavily and looked at the dojo, then, ignoring his idiotic clones, began walking towards the entrance.

(How can anyone stand these assholes?) he thought, self-insulting, even though he hadn't realized it.
