On a particularly hot summer day, Michael Grant was making his way to the store. On the way he passed by a bank and saw some commotion.
'Hmm, is that a bank robbery?' He kept his thoughts to himself, not wanting to draw attention to himself. Although it wasn't like he could avoid the attention, he was wearing a hot pink shirt and white sweatpants, it wasn't easy to miss him.
"KEEP YOUR HANDS WHERE THEY ARE! SLOWLY RAISE THEM ABOVE YOUR HEAD!" A policeman saw Michael and started to yell, it seemed like his vocal cords would erupt from his body any second.
Michael didn't wanna get into trouble, he still had a lot to do. He had just gotten into an ivy league university and had big ambitions for the future. He had no reason to compromise his safety anyway so he obliged to the officers command.
"I said get down! Stop resisting!" The officer seemed to be hallucinating since Michael was clearly already doing what was asked of him.
"Sir, I'm doing as your–"
"STOP RESISTING!"
Bang! Bang! Bang! Thud.... Bang!
The sight of a police officer shooting down an unarmed civillian was seen by all the people present at the time.
'Huh? What was I doing?' The police officer thought while looking around, it seemed like he forgot something.
...
Elchra Academy, dorm room.
"Yo, wake up. It's time for class now." A young man shook his asleep friend who was going to be late if he didn't get up soon.
Annoyingly, he didn't wake up even after being repeatedly shaken. Because of that, he left the room without a single word.
Sizzle...
A faint hissing sound emenated from the sleeping boy, after it's abrupt stop, the boy jerked awake and hit his head on the bed above him.
"Ah shit! Damn it..what the hell happened!?" He cursed and got out of bed, scanning his surroundings he realized he was in an unfamiliar environment.
'This isn't a hospital room? I definitely died, what is going on..?' He questioned inwardly. After taking a look around and at himself, he could conclude a few things.
First thing he found was that he wasn't in his body but someone else's who was around 16-17. The second thing was that he was in some sort of school or institutions dorm room as there were things used for studying laid around and a backpack on his bed. The third was that this wasn't the same world either, he could feel a flow of something inside of him aswell as outside of him, he could only describe it as magical.
'Why does this have to happen to me out of all people, it would have been nice if I could've gone to heaven...' He kept complaining to himself and prepared to leave to dorm room to see what else there was.
Before he could do that however, a stinging pain came from his head and caused him to fall onto the floor. Years of foreign memories invaded his mind, these were clearly not his and many strange things were in them.
'Magic? I'm a mags? There's magical beasts too? What the hell is this world!?' He was shocked to see all the different things inside of the new memories, he figured our what type of world he was in now.
According to his memories, he was now Michael Winton, nicknamed Mike. He was a new mage that had just entered a prestigious magic academy, Elchra. His parents died when a rift was created and magical beats poured out, that is why he became a mage.
'So this place is like an ivy league university? I could get used to this place, if this kid is that smart I'll have no problems doing good here.'
After some remodeling in the bathroom, Mike left the dorm room. His uniform was on nice and tight and he looked cleaner then before. Some people looked at him a little funny but he ignored it not knowing why.
He opened the door to the classroom he was supposed to go to and saw the professor standing next to the whiteboard with a small flame coming from his palm.
"Your late, Winton. That's one point deducted, don't be late again." The professor scolded him and sent him to his desk.
This was his first class, Magic Theories. He would learn different ways to use magic. As this was the first day, it was relatively basic.
"The way magic is used can vary, but there are 2 main ways, the first is by utilizing magic circles and the second is with an incantation."
"Incantation magic is usually very basic and has an overwhelming amount of usages. It can be used through saying the spell name and focusing your mana into wherever the spell is being cast. For example, lightning bolt would be an incantation magic."
"On the other hand, magic circles are used for very specific spells that are usually much more powerful and destructive, some can be the opposite but it depends. An example would be meteor strike, a less destructive example would be permanent levitation."
As the professor continued to explain, most of thr students seemed to be in deep thought. Mike on the other hand couldn't care less about what he was learning, he was too busy creating a new magic just for himself.
One of the spells that did not exist yet was a flight spell, while there are levitation ones they don't allow the user to move freely and control the speed of their movement either.
A blue circle was hovering above his desk, he continued to add and refine his ideas into it. Soon it looked like a true magic circle with a triangle in the middle, some strange symbols that resembled egyptian hieroglyphics, and a few levitation circles engraved into its corners.
The professor couldn't help but see the idiotic grin on michael's face and called on him to anwser a question.
"Michael Winston, how many grand mages are there in Elchra Academy?" He asked, not expecting a student like him to know as he didn't even mention it.
Unfortunately for the professor, Mike was very lucky in his guesses.
"Uh, 17?"
"... Correct."
Even though he turned back around to face the whiteboard, he couldn't hide his confused expression from anyone.
Just like that, class went by in a flash and ended. Mike got up and left while carrying the book that was passed to everyone.
