The wind, packed with sand and dust, pushed against Aldric as he fell about thirty feet from the top of the hill. His coat billowed as he raised his sword, setting his aim. Since he stood on the hill, he already had a set target. The sickening sound of Aldric's blade piercing through the head of the snake echoed through the desert; all the momentum Aldric had garnered from the fall let off on a single point. The sand slider was dead in an instant.

The other creatures, immediately noticing the intruder, were quick to act, their fangs launching at Aldric with primal hunger. However, just before their forked tongues could feel the thick savory metal of blood, the snakes had all lost their heads.
