Aldric's head seemed to spin, his body contorting in pain as he tried to make sense of his blurry vision. He turned on his back, looking up at the cloudless sky before turning towards Lerai, who stood in the distance. As Aldric's vision began to gain focus, he could make out the smug look on Lerai's face.
Aldric let out a hitched, painful exhale. He turned to his side, placing his hand atop the grey sand, his fingers sinking in slightly as he pushed himself off the desert floor onto his feet.
"Genius, me?" Aldric coughed his words as he steadied himself. "I doubt anyone would agree..."
Standing straight, the young awakened breath slowed, and as suddenly as it was noticeable, his demeanor seemed to shift. A dark mist began to materialize around him, moving and intertwining together, writhing as if sentient.
