Chapter 84 - chapter 84: Soul finder

They had not found anything in the library during their entire stay in Alden. Alden had the biggest library in Lower Elysium. It was probable they wouldn't find anything elsewhere either.

Their last clue was the name Graham gave him. Nowelt!!!. Neo had spent all his time asking around during all that time, but no one knew about that name.

That's why he decided to ask for permission to use the Soul Finder. With it, they could find him.

"The Soul Finder could be considered the heart of Alden city," the higher enchantress Contley Blood stepped in.

Wisdom frowned, Neo and Amarok looked indifferently at her.

Alden city was founded several years ago. An old traveler arrived in Alden city on a rainy day. The city Lord's first daughter was passing by and met him freezing outside. At that time, Alden city was known throughout Elysium not for its growth but its amalgamation of notorious criminals. At that period, it wasn't only Alden but the entire of lower Elysium that was notoriously violent. The region was violent, and people not lucky enough outside could easily get abused.

She took him out of kindness. Later, they found out that he was a storyteller. He entertained the Lord and his people during his entire stay in Alden.

On his last night, he gave the Soul Finder to the city Lord's daughter, saying it was a gift. A gift that could read and find what the souls desired. Then he vanished, and no one had seen him since.

The legend said thanks to the Soul Finder, they could find anyone they wanted. Alden city exploded with growth. All the most wanted criminals of that time were caught thanks to it. Alden city received the protection of the celestial guardian and many more. Many people started converging in Alden for business.

The Soul Finder required an astronomical amount of crystals to be used. That's why the previous city Lord was so hesitant to let them use the Soul Finder.

Till today, some said it was still thanks to the Soul Finder Alden was so peaceful. Others still felt it was a scam to extort more crystals from people.

No matter the answer, the legend had traveled eons till their ears.

"Even though you helped Midrel back then and Calder saved Alden, it doesn't change anything. You're still a criminal who needs to atone for his crime," the higher enchantress Contley said.

"I don't understand why his highness wants to let you be. But be careful, young man. A single misstep and no one, not even the King, will be able to save you," she casted her gaze at Amarok and Neo before leaving. The guard quickly stepped out of her way in fright.

"Don't mind her. Some people are too blind to see even what's laid before them. She wouldn't admit she was wrong," Neo said, staring at her back.

Amarok understood what he meant, balling his fist. Even after that, Calder's name was still erased from Alden academy, meaning his name would vanish in the flow of time with his valiant sacrifice. How could she be so cruel?

All because of her, she refused to retract her words. Despite the ban on Neo being removed, Amarok's situation had not changed. He didn't understand why she was so strong-headed.

"Contley Blood!!!! I will prove you wrong," he shouted at her back. She halted her steps for a few seconds, then resumed as if nothing had happened.

The Soul Finder flashed with light, the crystals in the room orbited around it. It hummed to life, drawing what looked like a galactic map. Then it broke, light flashed out, drawing a map. Then it broke once more, showing a monastery. Then it flashed a blinding light. Amarok and Neo covered their eyes, Wisdom looking downward.

After the light disappeared, the translucent orb had returned to normal.

"Wow, the Suwu Monastery. Could the person you're looking for be a monk?" Milo stepped in, followed by a slightly older man, probably in his twenties. He had a sharp temperament and an imposing aura. His eyes were bright and full of vigor.

"Is it very far from here?" Amarok turned to Milo. "A few weeks, I would say. Can I come with you? That way, I could mount the moon cheetah," Milo asked. Wisdom hid behind Amarok.

"That's not a good idea. Gen Milo, we need to return today," the man by Milo said. His voice was neither too loud nor too low.

Neo could feel threatened just by his presence. Could he be a champion? Neo shook his head at this age. A champion? A rank five rune warrior or sorcerer, a champion. There was no champion in the entire Lower Elysium. Even the higher enchantress Contley was only a rank four rune sorcerer, a smith. Yet this guy was being so polite to this annoying kid.

Who was really this Milo? Neo was curious but simply said, "We don't want to trouble you. We are poor; we can't afford more people."

"It's fine. Djim will pay for everything," Milo said to the man beside him. "Gen Milo, His Highness will punish me if we do that. We have to return. We will pay for their travel," Djim said with a smile. He knew too well the little kid in front of him. Someone might see him as an annoying kid, but Djim knew perfectly well he wasn't only that.

Milo sighed in exasperation. "Old Velv is so boring. See you, Amarok. Come to see me one day if you reach Upper Elysium," Milo waved at them, smiling at Wisdom. Wisdom clearly felt relieved seeing Milo's figure disappear in the corridors.

"Avoid yourself problems. Stay away from Milo," Djim said simply and followed behind. There was no hatred or anger in his voice. It looked like a stern but sincere advice.

"He is really annoying, but he doesn't look bad," Amarok commented.

"Don't judge people just by their appearance, Amarok," Neo added.
